1. I heard some rumors on Dutch U2 communities (through newsletters) that word got around that there will not be a pre-sale for U2.com members for the upcoming tour. Only Live Nation members can be a part of the pre-sale. No word yet on how to become a Live Nation member or even if you can become a member easily.

I'm sure U2 earned millions of dollars for signing a deal with Live Nation, but if this is true, it's hard to sell to a lot of fans. I was pleased four years ago to get a few tickets easily through u2.com. I'm not sure if a deal with Live Nation gives real U2 fans what they deserve, tickets for live shows for decent prices.

Any news on if this is true, or not?
  2. Fuck.
  3. I don't belive that. it must be bullshit. it's not a very U2 thing to do.
    rumors rumors.
  4. Gerard answered for me. What's the subscription for, then? just for receiving the super-duper-extra-luxe (kidding ¬¬) CD (which you can burn with the same quality at your home, for zero $) every year?? Fuck.

  5. Lately a lot of the things U2 seems to be doing is making as much money as possible It's unbelievable how much money they have made through the deal with Live Nation. Though I'm also not yet convinced that this can be true after the u2.com debacle four years ago for a lot of U.S. fans where the pre-sale went really bad. They have something to made up for.

After the FAN FIRE clusterfuck of 2004-2005, along with the many scalpers that bought memberships to get tickets, they stated that 'ticketing' was not part of the fan club.

That was in reference to when it was time to re-up in late 2005.

That said, it isn't over until it's over. They might not want to announce that fanclub will include ticketing, for the up and coming tour, so that they have a better chance at beating the scalpers.

In my view, one should have to have had their membership for 18+ months before the tour announcement to get tickets. That shakes out some of the 'riff raff'.

And the good news is, that Live Nation will be taking over for Fan F@cker (FIre). SO if there IS pre-sale codes... there is a better chance that you will get a GOOD CODE and BEFORE the sale starts - should the do pre-sales.

Hopefully, they will listen to the fans before Live Nation and honor the long standing practice of pre-sale tickets. (dating back to the early days of Propaganda). It waits to be seen.

Live Nation DOES take care of Bruce Springsteens website and such and, to my understanding, he has had a good workable pre-sale policy. So there IS hope.

Again, time will tell. So don't be pissed yet.
  7. The one issue, question that I do have with U2.com is that they are late with everything! They are late in updating what the 'gift' package is for members. They were a bit late announcing the package last year too.

But more than that, I've gotten a few notices to re-new my subscription. Yet they still list the same CD/t-shirt package as last year. WTF?

Some of it may be due to Live Nation is taking over for Fan Fire.
  8. even if it is this way, they might arrange a way for U2.com members to be VIPs in Live Nation...get tickets easier, etc.
  9. I hope this is just another rumour there has to be some advantage for being a paying member of u2.com after all...
  10. And to think it was the only reason I was gonna subscribe.
  11. Everyone is already bagging a system that hasn't been anounced yet.Lets wait and see what they come up with first.Remember so far we have no album or tour date.Everyones obviously just getting excited for the new U2 sound and show.Patience people.
