My post wasn't really directed at you guys here, but more on the people on Greasy Lake (It's called like that, right) I followed the show there last night and it suprised me the negative way they look at the setlists.

As U2 fans we are used to have stable, almost never changing, setlists. So for me this is something new and I am impressed by the way they keeps changing up. Of course there are some songs, or albums, which I dont like to have in the setlist but still they keep amazing me with the changes every night.

Unfortunately. Imagine what U2 could do just by changing 6-7 songs a night. Even just those 6-7 from about 30 other songs. That would be revolutionary!

dylbagz it's funny you should mention it but i was thinking if he put the full albums at the start it makes more sense - opening with thunder road, badlands, born in the usa makes more sense and disturbs less of the show in the end. I know leeds is the smallest venue on the tour but what's next in size anyone know. They have to be the contenders if wiess/greetings is coming out. I don't think he'll do a full album in leeds as it's not much bigger than some theatres in the uk

Yeah I think they have to open (or close, but only BTR). Darkness and BITUSA don't have that special something to end the night on, but BTR does. Born to Run would still be in the encores in basically its same spot, and that would be a fantastic way to rip into a full album. I don't think WEISS or Greetings will come out. If they were I'd say that they would pop up on a multiple night stand, that would probably draw that most die hards, cause let's face it, who else even knows a single track from those two otherwise.

these are the things that concern me about the full albums or more particularly, born to run, darkness and bitusa.

is he saying: these are my three best albums, these are the only albums that work in concerts, these are the only albums most of you know, these are the only albums i/the band want to play.Other than the latter which we all don't know the answer to i'd argue against all three ideas but i just thought i'd give the rest of you something to think about.

I think it's more of a thing to please the majority, cause let's face it, they pay Bruce's bills. If he did a show at an arena where the whole 12k people had to have seen Bruce half a dozen times to get a ticket, then I don't think the guys on stage would think twice about playing anything. But when 1% of the crowd even knows what's on the last side of the river or has even remotely heard of something called the New York City Serenade, I don't think it's in BS's best interests to pull too much of that sort of stuff out.

And they are probably the only ones that work well in concert, to that popularity / mainstream thing. Imagine how many toilet break / beer break songs there'd be for the casuals at a full Nebraska gig. Bruce may as well be at his rehearsal hall.

I've forgotten which gig's dvd it's on but there's one shot from the audience where you can see a stream of folk heading for beer/toillets/both at the start of incident - i mean incident come on that is blasphemy.

he wasn't far short of the full nebraska in omaha though not in order but he did get through six with a seventh in the soundcheck so it must be floating around somewhere in his head. The answer is to get a relatively small venue and say what you're going to do in advance. Nebraska and tunnel back to back, 12,000 audience, job done.
