there's very little messing about in a u2 set though they don't have the equivalents of american land, twist and shout and (that old favourite) light of day that can be dragged out to at least ten minutes for no good reason - if bono had thirty minutes where he only actually had to sing for ten of them he'd feel like he'd had a holiday - the most he gets is a long intro
No reason why they can't extend solos and intros and things further?
Not sure why Zooropa was shortened on the 360 tour for example.
Even the COBL intro is shortened live.
And Bono needing a rest gives the band an excuse to play songs like Alex Descends Into Hell For A Bottle Of Milk (instrumental), Edge solo songs (SBS, I'm sure he could do Staring at the Sun, In a Little While, Drowning Man, Love Is Blindess - that was spectacular at the end of the AB doco) and more songs with less singing and more instrumentalisation, like Dirty Day, Lemon, Mofo, Fez, etc.
