Just listened to Auburn Hills 09 and man, the violin intro is so horribly out of tune it is actually a pain to listen to. And I'm certain this isn't the only time I've thought that. Why does she suck so much?

(I think this is the first time I have ever noticed myself being critical of a member of the E Street Band's musical prowess/talents)

To her defense, playing violin in tune is very difficult since it doesn't have any frets like a guitar. Because of that it's hard to start something in tune, since a violinist kind of has to tune by ear all the time, and that's hard to do without any reference pitch at all, which you don't have when you're taking the first note.

I really do hate when she does that though. It doesn't matter that much when you're there live, since you're just so overjoyed because you're getting Jungleland, however when I listen to my Gothenburg II show on the bootleg, I cringe a bit every time I hear Jungleland start.

I understand that, but why can't she have a violin there on stage (or ready to be brought up by a tech) that is tuned specifically for Jungleland, considering it is about the only song that it features so prominently in? I mean the violin intro to Jungleland is a big thing.. I don't see how it can be so hard to get right, yet they have a machine that automatically converts Roy's piano into whatever key etc that the particular song is in..
  5. Friday I was thinking, which show of Springsteen I am going to listen. Lots of information here of interesting setlists.

But could not make a choice. So I look in my "archive" of Springsteen recordings. I thought what about LA 1999-10-23? Listen it last summer in Spain on my MP3 near the pool. What I can remember I was a good show. (maybe to much distraction around me)

Listen it again, WOW WHAT A GREAT CONCERT this is. Both performance as audio one of the best Springsteen recordings ever!!
