I bought david gilmour tickets that way last year what about the big ac/dc crash last year? they did it for u2 in a way when they also sold fan club memberships ... there are not that much big tours anymore these days

I know it didn't work this year (yeasterday) with Gilmour (I actually managed to grab really great tickets for both nights in Vienna), and I was surprised it didn't work for The Rolling Stones in 2014. After that one un-subscribed the Bild and it really only cost those 0,99 E. How crazy is that? There was no pre-sale for Vienna.
And I would not call those U2 pre-sales Eventim fan-presales, those had nothing to do with the ticketalarm, it was rally the U2.com stuff, eventhough it was run via eventim of course... But wait, now I remember, that it was actually at some point possible to buy a ticket + a membership on eventim, right? That was strange :-)
But again, it is good to know those ticket alarms still might get me an early access to tickets, I have to check my mailbox for ticket alarms more often now when we can expect some Springsteen news :-) - I have actually bought tickets to several Springsteen shows in those Eventim fan pre-sales before.
