  1. I just picked up the latest album from the Killers. I think it's new, but i could be wrong. I'm pretty impressed! Sam's town was pretty mediocre when compared to Hot Fuss and Sawdust, but Day and Age is very fresh and original, and I like it a lot. Anyone else heard it? Any Killers fans (and i know there are some, for some strange reason a lot of U2 fans like the Killers as well) should pick this one up. Great album.

    Losing Touch is my fav at the moment, closely follwed by Spaceman, Neon Tiger and This Is Your Life

    I think I may be getting it for Christmas. I'm glad to hear that everyone is liking it so far, I'm a big Killers fan
  4. Picked it up as well. It has a very fresh but distinct 'Killers' sound and Dustland Fairytale, Human and Goodnight, Travel Well are fantastic. And though it was better than Sam's Town for sure, it doesn't come close to Hot Fuss.

    Its too bad because beating your own debut album is a requirement to even contend as a world class band and I don't think they've done it yet. There's nothing on Day and Age that comes into the Killers Big 3 (All These Things That I've Done, Indie Rock & Roll, Read My Mind).

    Sorry Brandon but all that talk on taking out U2 is...still just talk

  6. Count me in as one of those U2 fans who really likes the Killers. I really only got into them within the past half-year, but I find myself more and more impressed by their music. Unlike a lot of people, I really did like "Sam's Town", as there are some fantastic songs on the CD and overall it just has a great sound. "When You Were Young" and "Read my Mind", the songs that most people know, are probably pretty representative of the album as a whole, but there are a couple of lesser-known gems like "Bling (Confessions of a King)" and "Why do I Keep Counting?" Granted, "Hot Fuss" is certainly good too ("Mr. Brightside" and "All These Things That I've Done" are fabulous), but I don't think that it's so much better than their other albums, as a lot of people tend to believe. So I do see some progression in their music since their debut.

    That said, I did pick up their latest CD, "Day and Age", and overall, while it's quite good, I actually don't like it quite as much as their previous albums. To their credit, though, the Killers try out a lot of new sounds on it, so I respect their attempt to expand artistically (if anything, I think that's part of the reason I'm still warming up to the CD -- it sounds a good bit different from some of the other stuff they've done. Lots of saxophone, for example...) On this vein, I think maybe one of the things I really like about the Killers is their willingness and ability to try out something different and expand their palette with each new release. Reminds me of another certain band I love and what they always USED to do before HTDAAB. Ahem...
  7. Well said everyone! Glad to see some Killers fans on here, although I knew there was a handful

    So far my favourites are Human, Spaceman, This is Your Life (my favourite of the whole album easy), Dustyland Fairytale, and Neon Tiger. Basically I like the whole album. It's good Still doesn't come close to Hot Fuss, but it's a really great album. I have to agree in saying that this album is a change in sound for them, and I also respect the fact that they try to venture out into new areas of music. Great job!

  10. Aw freak, I just read the headline, I clicked on it, and Hot Fuss is $4.99, and not D&A. Its $11.99 (which is still cheaper than getting it in-store)

    I certainly agree that The Kilers deserve all the respect in the world for branching out and changing their sound and I love that their direction is both (well attempting at both) horizontal as well as vertical. But am I the only one who doesn't trash HTDAAB around here?

    Not to misconstrue your words, dude: i know you're not U2 bashing or mean anything negative. It just pops up frequently on this site from the 'purists' (again not directed at the quotee above) on how that was their weakest album. I couldn't disagree more. If HTDAAB was U2's only album, I'd still think they were one of the best (AB! of course removes that 'one of' for me).

    But I digress, way off topic. Long story short: Don't poke me, I make noise
  12. Bomb is as much worthy as any other U2 album. Period.

    And D&A is the best Killers album. . )
