1. well shoot...no MERCY...ugh oh well. I hope they return to it someday. What a great song.

But this looks great! I cant wait till march 2nd. Im totally preordering as soon as Itunes allows
  2. Unknown Caller
About a man "at the end of his rope" whose phone bizarrely begins texting him random insructions.........."Reboot yourself, Password enter here, Youre free to go!"

"ZOMG, Bono wants us to reboot and log-in again!!!"

I'm kinda glad Mercy has not, from what we've read lately, made it on to the album. It's an epic, sure, but is it worthy of the new album?
  3. um ya it is drew...your a meanie hahaha had to go back to grade school for a moment hahaha

well I at least hope they might play it for the NLOTH tour. We'll see I suppose

isn't Breathe = Walk Out Into The Streets? because in the beach clip you can clearly hear 'walk out into the streets' as well as 'please, let me breathe'

Good point, and I hope you're right. Loved that beach clip (from what I could hear from it though).
Promising stuff, some long songs on it. 2 months left of waiting....
  6. So the new record is going to have longer songs than recent albums? The longest song on HTDAAB is 5:48 and ATYCLB had 5:30, but from this, the average length is around five to eight minutes. This is going to be an epic - Pop had songs averaging well over four minutes.

We haven't had a real epic album since Pop or Achtung Baby. And from the descriptions, it sounds like what I've been saying all along - it will have elements of a concept album! It's great to see that the concept album idea hasn't died or has become irrelevant.
  7. Wow... great news and great expectations.

I just found a great interview The Edge had with Mojo magazine and he specially talks about this album. Want to share it with you guys so here it is. It´s made of two parts:

Wander how this album is gonna sound like. I just hope this could be a great return for U2. Honestly, I miss the Achtung Baby era but the places where this new album has been recorded and the fact that Eno an Lanois even wrote music for this one make me feel excited and curious. Hope this album can become one of the greatest of U2.

Of course, excellent point. If it is however, I wouldn't be making statements that it is their best ever song... it isn't, if we go by the Beach Clips version at least.
Was Breathe recorded in the earlier Fez sessions since it has Arabic cello? And so might the beach clips version be a nearly complete/representative (albeit very poor quality) of the album version of the song?

What is Beach Clip 1, Unknown Caller?
No 1 was by far the best sounding beach clip, the atmospheric vocals and a great Edge solo at the end sound really promisng.

Wow, that Q article gave us just enough info to figure out what 3 of the beach clips are quite conclusively.
  9. as long as all this 6 minutes stuff isn't anything like what's been on viva la vida, I'm fine.
didn't at all like how many of their new songs sounded like two blended into one.

Listen closely, you can match the lyrics

They have reasons to believe Beach Clip 1 is Unknown Caller because of the 'Reboot' lyric. The rest is quite clear if you compare lyrics. Not certain though...it could all be very different and this is all plain guessing ofcourse.
  11. The following was posted by Interference-member Windylad72, who also posted the songlist published in Q. Reliable source, methinks.

Two takes and 10 minutes later its done.

U2 are currently running three different studios at Olympic.

    Edge about Stand Up
I'm still trying to get my head around exactly what we'll end up with. The record is almost cganging every day.............Stand Up is just a great gutsy performance from everyone.

Stand Up is a swaggering rock and roll song with a real groove.........there's some dirt in what your playing...............Yes, its totally unreasonable. If you're going to do a big guitar song I think you need to push it all the way. It started with a Moraccan rhythm and gone rock n roll.

    Breathe
It's 8pm and Eno, Bono and Will.i.am are on Olympic Studio 1 writing a cello part for a song called Breathe that U2 - a touch ambitiously - are only beginning to record in ths final fortnight, never mind mix.............the singer belts out a rollicking vocal featuring door-to-door salesman, a cockatoo and a chorus that begins "Step out into the street.......sing your heart out".

Step out into the street...quite similar to Walk Out Into the Street(s).
  12. I'm DAMN excited now. More news virtually every day, new details... I'm excited. I'm very excited
