1. I'm having mixed emotions here:
I'm gasping with excitement because of the new album,

but at the same time I cannot help feeling a little disappointed with only 11 (eleven!) songs in almost five years! please forgive me

That's probably their average for albums - maybe 12. I value quality over quantity. I much prefer 11 really great songs rather than 17 average ones.

Yes I agree with the quality over quality argument,
but it's becoming all so predictable,,,, 11 songs is sort of standard for a U2 album, as are the bonus track, the uptempo 1st single, etc.

I guess I sort of hoped for a surprise like a double album, or, ..oh I dont know, something a bit different from usual...

Oh god I hope its good!
  6. If Larry says it's some of the best music they've written, then it must me true.
  7. Thanks Dan. Great insight from Larry. Way more than the usual pre-release fluff.

  8. No probs. Yep, thought it was very good article. 28 pages in total.
  9. I think the 150 BPM song will be rap, or Breathe (listen to the Beach Clip)

And it seems all the naysayers who thought the Beach Clips were irrelevant were wrong.
And If Winter is Simon & Garfunkel sounding, then could it possibly be track 5.
Does anyone know if beach clip 5 sounds like a S&G song? (I don't listen to their music)

I also liked how they referred to the beach clips and the rivalry between successor bands such as the Killers and Coldplay, it makes them seem more relevant somewhat.

And I hope the Spanish leak is wrong, I don't want the album on Itunes two weeks before I can get my hands on the physical copy. As I will either have to make two purchases or maddeningly wait while everyone else discusses the album.

Buying and listening to an album is an experience in itself, going to the store, looking at the packaging, reading the dust jacket. Rather than simply clicking a few buttons on your PC, its disappointing that they should sanction a digital release earlier with 5 extra songs.

And can someone hurry up and post scans of the album?
  10. Great stuff here! But they shouldn't release the album on iTunes 2 weeks before the real release. Internet will be floating with U2's music...

Wonder if the GOYB-rumor is true...
