Based on 2 articles (and I believe the Q-article is more recent) we now have a collection of 13-14 songs. Some of them get cut, some of them become bonus tracks or b-sides and the rest makes it to the album.

I just wait for a proper, official tracklist...(and I actually hope that they changed every single track title, giving us the feeling: 'Waht the heck is this!?')
  2. After reading the posts about wanting to drop "Sexy Boots" altogether, it got me thinking of something...

The Joshua Tree Box Set included a second disc with all of the single's b-sides...perhaps the No Line box set will do something similar? It's a bit of a stretch, since they usually leave those songs for people to find on the ends of their digitally released singles (since thats about the only way you can buy a single anymore), but does anyone think it could happen?

And for everyone begging for "Mercy" out there (pun intended), you think this would be on there? Since, technically, that belongs on the Bomb B-side list, doesn't it?

"A hundred fifty beats per minute, three minutes, the fastest song we've ever played," Bono says,

    edit. sorry repost

Oh, crap, he just confirmed my fears. The chorus lyrics are identical to Beach Clip 3.
This ain't gonna be no Vertigo, that's for sure.

And remember they were saying that there were going to have a 'dance floor shock' song on the new album? What happened to that? The closest song from the Q info would be GYBO, but it hardly sounds dancy, more like barbershop/punk hybrid.

Have they ever actually done this before? Just out of curiosity...

And if so, can anyone remember fake track names, or if they actually corresponded to tracks at all? (For example, might they have called "Vertigo" "Hello Hello"?)

If it's too OT, you can message me.

But we haven't heard any new alterations to the song. There's a video floating around on YouTube of some kid playing the intro riff on his guitar, but who's to say thats not layered over some new-age techno beat, with a huge electric feeling, either dance or industrial style, a la "Numb"?

    We can all dream

They did, Vertigo was Native Son etc. But that's more working titles>definite titles instead of faking them on purpose.

About that riff...it's identical to beach clip 3. I can even sing along with it...
  8. I understand that, but do we KNOW that the beach clips are the exact recordings of the song? The guitar may be finalized, but they could layer that over any type of beat. All I'm saying is that just because they have a gutiar track down for it doesn't mean that it's the only form of melody or beat to the song.
  9. HERE COMES THE NEW SINGLE!

    Plus bonus track information...

NEW @U2 NEW SINGLE COMING SOON

We're hearing lots of buzz about the first single from U2's new album, which is expected to be "Get On Your Boots." Confirming anything has been a challenge today, but here's what we think we know:

A fan in Boston tell us that WBCN radio announced on-air yesterday that the new U2 single will "hit the airwaves" next week. WBCN is, of course, a longtime U2-friendly radio station.
But, a good source elsewhere is saying the single won't be on US radio until January 19.
We do know that US radio stations typically receive new singles on Thursdays or Fridays for airing the following week. So, it sounds like the new single should be out in the next week or two at most. We've got feelers out in a bunch of places, and we'll update this as we hear more.

On a semi-related note, U2tour.de is reporting that the UK standard version of No Line On The Horizon will include a bonus track. The UK and Japan typically get these bonus tracks. U2tour.de also expects the bonus track will be available on some of the limited editions of the album, too.
  10. And so begin the 12 longest days of my life.

They aren't exact recordings, just indications or raw material. They were still busy with mixing, writing and recording in December, so the beach clips are just indicators of what might come. So I agree with you.

Well of course they're songs in progress, but I think they will be more like the early versions of Yahweh/ All Because of You or Xanax & Wine to fast cars, rather than what Native Son is to Vertigo.

Also I believe the clips are of songs recorded in the Fez sessions (the dates are right) as we have songs such as Breathe (which opens with Arabic cello) and Unknown Caller (which has the sounds of nesting swallows in Fez, recorded in the songs opening). Lyrics from these two songs, stated in Q are also identical to what you can hear on the Beach Clips, supporting this theory.

So I think these two at least, are in a relatively final form having already been recorded.
GYBO may have been started in the Fez sessions, but not finished until perhaps the Olympic sessions (I am certainly hoping this is the case).
