No, I mean the show. And no real hurry, just curious if it was ever intended on being posted for download, cause I'd sure as hell love to listen through it on a rainy day
  2. Alright guys, I've literally been working on listening through certain bootlegs to make this thing perfect for months, so I'd love to share with you my ultimate U2 setlist/concert, with specific dates. First, however, since I know many of you will have questions, and I would much rather answer them right off the bat, I decided to conduct a short question/answer session with myself that you can hopefully read through and it will help you understand my selection.

Q: Hi Matt, how are you today?
A: I'm just fine, thank you!

Q: Good to hear. The first thing I want to ask before I waste any more of my time is, will this be available for download here on the forum? I don't really care what you think about these performances unless I can download the package and hear it for myself.
A: Great question. In all honesty, I don't think I can post it here on the forums, since sharing officially released material isn't allowed. If a song is from a night when a DVD was filmed, I have the DVD rip of the show- not the audience bootleg, in which case that audio was used.

Q: Hmm. Good to know. Now let's start in with the flaws. The first thing that JUMPS out at me, as a proud live-U2 fan, is that you chose a seemingly random performance of "Where the Streets Have No Name", from a tour where Bono's voice was weak, and where, in the first verse of the song, The Edge screws up HUGELY! What's the deal, man? Why not a classic JT performance?
A: Another great question. Short answer. The flow between "Pride" and "Streets" from Vancouver, in combination with the crispness of The Edge's guitar during the intro, almost made me cry when I first heard it, it was that beautiful to me. Enough said, in my opinion.

Q: Forgivable. Since I mentioned the Joshua Tree Tour, I can't help but notice that you only have ONE performance that pre-dates the JT Tour, and only several from that tour itself- why only later performances?
A: There are many reasons for this. First of all, in my personal opinion, U2's live shows have only become better and better with age, and they begin to really find the potential in their songs. Also, sound quality was a big deal in compiling this list. It's hard to sit through a 40-something song setlist of bad quality songs, plain and simple.

Q: So, is that why the same shows are used for select songs, because of sound quality?
    A: Partially, yes.

Q: Still, though, what's with all the Chicago stuff on there?
A: Well, I'm from Chicago, and even if I wasn't, I think the fact that Chicago and New York get upwards of 8-10 arena shows per tour, and multiple nights in stadiums, I would be interested to hear why it was such a fun place to play anyway. I have the most shows from Chicago, and also, I may just be biased, but it seems the band is on fire whenever they come through my fair city. Not to diss any other cities...but look at the dates of these performances and tell me NONE of them at least ring a bell to you.

    Q: Where's [insert song here]?
A: Not on this compilation. You're very observant.

Q: Thanks for sitting down with yourself today! You've been incredibly kind.
    A: Anytime.

Without further ado, here's my compilation how it appears on my iPod. I highly reccomend downloading the specific performances from these shows, if you haven't already- almost every show used is essential to my bootleg collection.

I'll be trying this one out tonight. Nice work.
One question: why did you choose ASOH from the first Slane show?
  7. it was 2 years, and 2 days ago when i 1st made this topic, after all the hard work of compiling the list, my pc crashed this time last year and i lost it all or so i thought, i was just going through my backup of the old pc and i found it all (listening to it right now).

anyway, since this list was made b4 we had NLOTH and the 360 tour, id like to add to it. wud appreciate suggestions for the 'best' version of all the new stuff (nloth songs and mercy, NS etc), and any replacements of older songs that they r doing better on the new tour, UV cud be one for example.

also, i just set up a 30 day rapidshare account, so i think i shud be able to upload the current list if anyone wants it
