1. What I did with HTDAAB:
It leaked on a saturday, within a few minutes I had the entire album. I started playing OOTS first because I liked that song on the U2 iPod launch. Then I started repeating the album over and over again. Then I put it on my iPod and walked for a few kilometers that evening, listening to the album, blown straight into my head by my earphones. Loved it!

Will not know if I do the same with the new album, my sound setup is much better nowadays so I'll probably tune it up loud and listen to it, trying to sing along
  2. With HTDAAB, it was near Christmas, I listened to it in a Christmas-mood, so anytime I hear SYCMIOYO, I think about Christmas. That song made the best impression on me, together with COBL and OOTS. COBL kept my favourite, but the rest soon vanished. It's a decent album now for me.

When NLOTH comes out, I probably receive it trough Bol.com. I might download the album before to listen to it (can't control myself then), but when I receive my order, I wil play it on high volume on my stereoset.
  3. I'll get the Box set, unpack it, take the poster and kiss it
And then I'll listen to it of course...

Oh and after I listened 20 times to it, I'll watch the dvd
  4. No U2 material here...so I'll have to ask some family members abroad to get me something...I want the box set, but depends how much they are ready to spend for me
So, when the new album comes, if there are no leaks, I'll do a simple illegal download (I do have a soul, but there are no U2 selling stores here and I don't have a card to buy and download it online!)...and I'll listen to it...a lot I guess, I'm specially interested in hearing some of the songs, MOS, NLOTH, Tripoli if included, Breathe...the Wavy one...I'll be listening to them first, and then the rest of the album!
  5. I'll probably sit in some quiet place with earphones in my ears and lyrics in hands and listen to it carefully. And it's very probably that I'll be unable to sleep properly that night.

It is incredible how that turns to some kind of sacred ritual.
  6. the morning the album comes out, I will be in the store the minute it opens its doors. I will buy the cd, get into my car, put the cd on... and drive for a long time the best way for me to take in new music is in the car, when I'm all by myself, driving along country roads. so... the more songs we will get on NLOTH, the later I'll return home that day
  7. Re. HTDAAB, I bought the album, came home, stuck it on the CD player in the kitchen whilst I cooked dinner (as I've done with most of the U2 albums I've bought lol). The songs that really me were Miracle Drug, SYCMIOYO, LAPOE, COBL and Crumbs. A Man & A Woman has grown on me since then, but other than that I don't listen to it much - the only bit I really like about the album version of Vertigo is when the synths come in at the end; ABOY grates because Bono goes out of tune during the chorus (how they let that go I'll never know...), and the rest were fairly run of the mill. I like to play OOTS on the piano but that's really it, I've never been taken by it in any other respect.

For this album, I'll probably have to go out into the city between lecture times (assuming the timetable I've been issued is correct lol - the album is released during the 8th week of my semester), pick it up, go back to my flat, shove it onto my laptop's hard drive, whack the volume up, have some lunch, then go back to Uni. for more lectures in the evening lol.
  8. When Pop came out (the first release I really waited for), I played it for 2 weeks 24/7 to find out what the f... they released there. At home, in school, in the car. (Where's my old discman btw?)

With ATYCLB and the bomb it was different. I guess they were "easier on the ears".

Usually with any new release -U2 or not-, I buy the thing, go home, wait till evening falls, put it in my hi-fi system, turn up the volume, grab a good bottle of red wine, lean back and listen from start to finish.
  9. When HTDAAB was released my dad bought it for me and that day the only thing I listened was that record, while discussing it over MSN with some friend.

Now, I will be posting the whole day for my door to get that package, run to my laptop en listen to it, watch the video etcetera etcetera Still 50 dayzzzzz
  10. I have to be in for a 9 o'clock lecture on mondays, so in-between that and my 11 o'clock lecture I'll get the jewel case and a Greggs 55p sausage roll. when I get back at 1:30 i'll play it on my laptop, then flick through the songs that sound good at first listen, then go thought the album again and my ipod when i'm doing work or something.
  11. Ill get it home, rip the lossless to the ipod, wait for nightime (I think i'll manage), stick the Bose on and switch off the lights and hopefully an old flame will be rekindled.
  12. I'm with Yeah and Gerard on this one...always on my room with the lights dimmed, on the stereoset. And with the lyrics in my hand, just like Yogi.
