  2. when did they announce the shows North American shows in late 09 eg Pasadena, im hoping they will confirm some Aussie dates, local paper said early 2011 for ocenia, that would fit in with the AFL season.

  4. yeh the Advertiser said this a while back(duno their source), at the time i thought it was too far away but if they r confirmed to tour up til Oct, then Sth America might be Nov/Dec, then we get em in jan/feb???

    I wouldn't believe The Advertiser for a second. You want a tabloid and gossip rag, by all means feel free to buy it.

    I'd be guessing mid-2011 at this point.
  6. The timing in Australia is very hard. It basically can't happen after March as that is when the AFL and NRL get into full swing and although you have different stadium options in Brisbane (QEII for example) in Melbourne, Sydney and Perth there isn't a stadium free. The problem with Jan-Feb is the cricket season which once again only leaves certain stadiums available.

    If U2 can get the timing right, and aim for the Feb/March period then they are able to get the biggest stadiums in every city. Imagine 100,000 people seated at the MCG plus all the extra people standing. Apart from the crowds in South America it would be there biggest concert. Homebush Stadium can seat 80,000 plus standing in Sydney and Suncorp in Brisbane can seat 52,000 plus standing.

    It very quickly adds up to massive numbers. Just remember that when U2 toured with Vertigo, after Dublin, the city which had the most tickets was Sydney, 3 shows of 70,000 each! Australians love U2

    A packed MCG , i wouldnt miss that for anything.
  8. I was just wondering, given the possibility of 360 rolling into Down Under in 2011, if this is going to be the first tour ever to last for 3 years in its entirety? Would anyone know? Because that would be cool



    don't tempt me this tour has proved to be my weakness, so it's not out of question I'd indeed come "down" to your place to see them there (and share a pint with you guys there )

    Tour News: 2011 Dates & Ticket News for Brussels and Montreal

    There are a few newsworthy U2 360 items worth reporting, so let's get to it:

    South America in 2011? Speaking to the Chilean newspaper El Mercurio, Paul McGuinness has shot down rumors that U2 will perform in Chile at the end of this year, but he left open the possibility of concerts there in early 2011.

    Brussels ticketing: According to EU Ticket News, tickets for this year's Brussels concert are being held back due to concerns about the secondary ticket market. It looks like tickets may not be mailed until this summer. The Brussels shows are scheduled for September 22 and 23, 2010. (see full U2 360 4th Leg dates)

    Montreal ticketing: According to this news release, "several thousand" additional GA tickets for the Montreal concerts will go on sale this Saturday, January 30th. The announcement says the Hippodrome venue has been expanded to support 80,000 fans for each concert. The concerts will take place July 16 and 17, 2010. (see full U2 360 3rd Leg dates)

    Like just another one visitor in Midem, the worldwide musical industry which is taking place this days in Cannes (France), goes Paul McGuiness, the one and only manager that U2 has had in over 30 years.

    It's widely believed that this good-natured Irish is mainly who turned a group of 4 Irish boys into the biggest band of the world. And, always interested by what's going on in the musical bussiness, McGuinness answers a few of our questions. "We, U2, are in the live music business. We started with some shyness, but we've become the biggest live band of the world, maybe even the biggest band in the history of popular music. With this tour, we'll do, at least, 90 concerts; we did 45 last year and we're planning to do another 45 during 2010. In total, we're bound to play to about 6 million people", he says.
    According to McGuinness, U2 is thinking / has thought seriously in the idea of releasing their own videogame, Rock Band-style. "We haven't decided what will it be like, but we really wanna do it. And soon. Really soon".


    - It was said that U2 would come back to Chile in november of this year.
    We're probably not going to South America this year (2010). Maybe we go over there on early 2011, but we have to decide/define it yet. The reason is that this tour has 3 giant stages, that have to travel by ship, in over 200 containers... The cost of each tour day is about 3'000'000 $... But we'll do whateveer we can to go back to South America, of course.

    - When you define yourself as a "live band", do you care about the crisis that the world's living right now?
    U2 has become, with the years, in a live band; but that doesn't mean that we don't have respect for the proper albums. In fact, we put lots of efforts in our last recording, and we have cared about every detail of its presentation live. Moreover, since the start of the tour we have kept the ticket prices lower than usual.

    -The band has made some contracts and agreements with telephon companies and other formats to sell their music.
    Yes, the music is evolutioning and focusing in the digital market, the downloads and other kind of electronic stuff... but the digital supply companies don't care about (ED. or "have yet not cared about") of inverting in new platforms that satisfy the musicians, yet. I think that the whole thing is changing, indeed, but it will take some time until it stablishes and normalizes again.

    -It is said that U2 is currently working in the NLOTH successor/continuation.
    We'll resume the tour in California, next June... and of course the boys have been working composing new songs. We probably will reelease a new album after the tour (ED Note: yes, he said "after" the tour), but I don't know for sure, I'm not certain.
