Dublin shows are overrated but who's fault is that? Old Dublin shows used to be great but Dublin shows from Vertigo onwards are 50% tourist. U2 in Dublin is a tourist attraction and not a homecoming concert like they used to be.

Good point on Croke Ger - it aint the best. Id be game to give the Aviva a go to see if its any better.

I want to love going see them 'at home' but Slane aside, its been a disappointment so far.

Shows are "overrated" because people have too high expectations of those shows, like oo they will play Bad, 40, ASOH for sure, Dublin must be special etc etc. So if that doesn't happen then people are maybe dissapointed, while in fact they were at a great show in a great city.

I don't agree with that. In my experience, the gigs just haven't been as good - simple as that.

Maybe the band feel additional pressure of playing at home? maybe its Croke? I dunno

There's no additional pressure nowdays. Croke 2 was as good as any other 360 shows I saw in my opinion. And look at the set for Croke 3 on the Vertigo tour.

  5. Seems if they come to Brazil, they won't play Rio de Janeiro, as the Maracana stadium will be closed until 2012, according to a paper here.

    Why are they closing Maracana??
  7. refurbishment (WC 2014, Olympic Games 2016)
  8. @Pedro And what about the fans in Dublin who can't afford to travel abroad to see them? It's not a good enough reason that the gigs are overrated that they just ignore us and as Chris said, try could play 10 shows if they want

Something about the Aviva, what about the end with like 12 rows? Would they be allowed speakers that end?
  9. i can see the tour going on for years as they can't better the stage they have now

and Larry said they wanted to finnish the tour in dublin, so UK dates just before would fit perfectly
  10. So todays Irish Independent says that the rumoured Dublin dates could be for this October and not as part of an additional leg next year. Interesting. Gave mt pre-sale code away too lol
