    I've done a little research and there are a few stadiums in the nearby countries that would match the standards for a concert. Vasil Levski from Sofia has a capacity of 43.000, but Don Valley from Sheffield only had 25.000 (50.000 for concerts). This one was renovated in 2002 and should be in a good shape.
    There is a five-star arena in Donetsk, Ukraine, the Donbass Arena, but it's a little far from Bucharest. It will host some of the matches from EURO 2012. I am not sure about the logistics for transporting the stage there, but it's definitely worth considering.
    In Serbia we have the Red Star Stadium (Marakana), which is seven years newer than Silesian Stadium from Chorzow.
    Even if there are not even rumours about any of the countries mentioned, I would bet for at least one of the three. In my opinion, Sofia has the best odds.

    they still could do shows in football stadiums in August
  6. last year they played in Rome in october when the football season was started since one month or more


  7. I think it's no problem at all when they play mid-week.... so starting to build up The Claw on Sunday, have the show on Wednesday and be gone from the stadium on Friday night so there can be a soccer game on Saturday

    No big club would risk it. The playing surface in Sheffield and Glasgow was destroyed last year after the gigs.


  9. Sheffield is an athletics field and the Hampden pitch was relaid immediately afterward so no issues there.

    The cost of new turf would be included in negotiations with the venue. As someone pointed out earlier, the home of both Lazio and Roma was used for a gig this October and the pitch is used every week.

    Ha ha - things have came a long way since Zooropa. Celtic Park was decimated after the gigs. You could see the walkway a b stage outlines on the pitch for weeks after it!!

  10. Relaying is fine but clubs like Barcelona and most premier league clubs wouldnt risk it mid season. If the boys want to play Europe they will make it work.

    I take your point on the risk aspect but Roma and Lazio both done it with no problem a few months ago.

    Big clubs frequently relay pitches during the season.
