  3. I am seriously considering trying not to see the setlist before I go to whatever concert I go to.

    I couldn't resist with the leaked album but hopefully I will have better luck with the setlists!!

    I would love to go to a concert and have no idea what they are going to play!!

    Anyone else with me????

    I thought about it, but there's just no way. (unless you go to the 2nd show of the tour or something.) As someone in the US, it's completely unrealistic for me to try and do that and participate here.

    I think you might be right about the time they play in each continent, but it's a little too tight. More time between the legs, to rehearse new songs and rest a little. The tour's probably gonna end december 2010 in Australia or South America.

    Correct. The Vertigo Tour was in fact the first tour on which U2 did not play 3 shows in 3 nights at all. It happened twice on Elevation's third leg (18-20 November 2001 and 30 December to 2 December), once on Popmart (5-7 February 1998), etc.

    So I do not think rumours of three shows in three nights are outside the realm of possibility. The band like to avoid it, but I think that if they need to do it, they will. Especially when it comes to Dublin and Amsterdam, U2 know they have a huge fanbase coming to see them there and I'm sure they want to play to as many people as possible. If the only way to fit three gigs into the schedule is to play three consecutive nights, I hope they are willing and capable of doing it.

    (Personally, though, I don't mind them spacing three shows over four days simply because I can use the gap day to do sightseeing!)

    Agree! I can well use that day off myself too, after exhausting days full of queuing, singing and jumping.
  10. Gillette Stadium (30 miles south of Boston) is rumored for September 20. I would expect the 19th or the 21st to be added if the 20th goes sold-out quickly.

    The stadium is 'new' for U2, holding 68,756 in the seats plus another 5,000 on the field for a total of 73,000+. The last time U2 played outdoors in the Boston area was when the 'old' stadium was in place. I dare say that the band will be wowed by the new stadium and the whole retail complex surrounding it (Patriots Place).

    Although the NFL schedule hasn't been released, September 20th is a Sunday...which means that someone in the NFL knows that the New England Patriots will have an Away game that day...even if we don't.

    I would expect U2 to only do select cities in the U.S. with the outdoor set they'll bring from Europe. Plus, you have to realize that U2 wants these big football stadiums at precisely the time that the football teams want them. So scheduling will be a puzzle.

    I also expect U2 to come back to the U.S. in early 2010 to do indoor arena shows, canvassing the country pretty broadly. Again, they will want these arenas at a time when the hockey and basketball teams want them, so the tour organizers are going to earn their keep figuring out the logistics with respect to dates.

    Well, gaps between legs were included on that dates What about this? :

    20th June => 30th August: European Stadiums
    15th September => 15th January: American Arenas
    15th February => 15th May: European Arenas
    15th June => 30th August => 30th October: American Stadiums & Rest of the world

  12. I really do hope they play arenas in the US, as a European I love the atmosphere of the big stadium shows, but the last 2 tours travelled over to the states for some arena shows and its great seeing them in such small places.

    From what I have read them saying though it does not look like arenas have been factored in...
