  1. Still the best song for me Sometimes i tend to get bored, but there is something that keeps me listening to this song
  2. My first thought when listening to the beginning of the song for the first time was that one of the sounds is like a baby breathing after being born - and that was before he sings about being born, go figure!!! Coincidence???

    This explains a lot. You can look at it with a different view, but 'Justified till we die, you and I will magnify The Magnificent' is completely about praising God. Writing The Magnificent in capitals is another hint.

    And 'from the whomb my first cry, it was a joyful noise' is about faith and God too. Christians see it as their way of life to praise God, that's their/our (as I am Christian) goal in life. People often ask themselves what the point and goal of life is, some will say to live a great life, to be healthy, lucky..Christians say to praise God. This song represents that perfectly.




    I think you are right on about this song being about god

    try adding the word god in this line
    "Only (gods) love, only (gods) love can leave such a mark"
    "But only (gods) love, only (gods) love can heal such a scar"

    this is my favorite song so far


  4. I also figured this is a worship song. I love to worship.

    It's brilliant. More worship songs should sound like this. There's too much boring stuff going on in churches IMHO... and the God I believe in isn't boring.

    BTW, U2 were the single most influential band for the contemporary christian music scene IMHO. At least 50% of all modern CCM has "U2 ripoff" written all over it. Ever listened to Delirious for example? They're really good and I like them - but even a deaf man can hear U2's huge influence.

  5. Great song. Definitely the one that has hit off with me the easiest and the quickest

    The slide solo sounds a bit quiet on the album but I can see where everyone was coming from when talking about how the song harks back to War/TUF era - the slide especially reminded me of Surrender

    My first listen to Magnificent was from the bootleg from the top of Broadcasting house. I just didn't get it.

    Then I listened to the album version and I thought something had gone completely wrong. I honestly thought it was awful.

    The third and fourth times I listened I was just trying to work it out.

    The fifth time got me. I was almost in tears. Thought it was amazing.

    I've juts listened again, for the sixth time. And I was dissappointed. I didn't feel the same as I did last night. This time I just felt it was a 'typical' U2 track. Which isn't to say that I don't like it, just that it didn't wow me as much.

    Am I going completely mad? I shall perservere.

    If it proves to be true, spend as much time as possible among people who are much madder than you, so no one will notice your condition and you'll appear completely sane in comparison.

    That's almost a word-for-word substitution of the last line of "Grace" off ATYCLB:

    "Grace makes beauty out of ugly things."
  10. That 1:30 intro from the Fez sessions sound so much better and much more natural than the version that made it on the record. Wished they had kept that.

  12. Nah, that would be Boots or Stand up comedy. I kinda liked the live version on the BBC rooftop... but still something feels/sounds wrong with the album version.
