1. Magnificent I sometimes really like, other times not too arsed to listen to it. Good tune, but not a classic.

I think Breathe is captivating live, since it's their opener, and people (at least me) is so dumbfounded and awestruck to finally be seeing them in the flesh after so many months sitting looking at a ticket...and it's also just an awesome song.

    But that's just me.

And Risto, I LOVE the new avatar!

EDIT: To stay on topic: I agree with Magnificent not going anywhere live. It slows the opening quad, IMO. Replace it with Stand Up, try something new.
  3. The one from Summerville is still the best, I think. Lots of energy in that performance.

  4. I think it's a great live song but worked better when not at the end of the block of four NLOTH songs, but in the middle of the set. Although I did like the choreography they did for Edge and Adam to come forward over the bridges during GOYB and then Bono to come forward on his own at the start of Magnificent, and sing the song from the outer stage.
  5. still one of the worst songs they have ever composed but I have to admit to enjoying the odd live performance off it. Specifically Barca 1 and Wembley 2.

The rough cut on the Fez video is brilliant too

  6. I only like the latter ones with the edited solo and the very short one from Berlin
  7. I actually think that it could work if it was brought back on another tour...having given people some time apart from it. My idea for it would be to actually speed it up, and even possibly take out/shorten a verse in the middle, and give Edge's solo a little bit more pizazz and presence. Sort of like "The Fly" between ZooTV and Elevation...they gave it a rest on PopMart, and when everyone heard it on Elevation, it was a completely different song. I just think it needs a live re-work.

Cause if you think about it, every tour "The Fly" has been played on, it's sounded COMPLETELY different, and it's one of U2's best songs (arguably). I'm not saying "Magnificent" is one of their best, but it's just clear that they can manipulate their songs a little bit live and they can still work. So stir up "Magnificent"..it doesn't have to be a carbon copy of the album version, but it also doesn't have to be the "Crazy Tonight" remix. It just needs some spice.

  8. I wonder when that will be

I only really found out about this topic when EyesWithPrideB3 (cheers ) told me. People were saying that it should be kept out of the setlists for the next leg. Tbh, I don't really think so. Reason being, it was a single and was a strong song. Possibly one of the songs that made NLOTH better.

As EyesWithPride was saying, the song could be speed up a bit. That could be done but I could not imagine it being faster. I don't think anyone else could either.
