i really hoped this could have been the right time but, sorry, NLOTH is just like the last two album: mainstream, overproduced, boring and tired; why the hell before every song there is an useless intro of a minute!!
however "Fez" is a great song

    p.s.: sorry for my english

NLotH is NOT a mainstream album. the very thought is ridiculous! All That You Can't Leave Behind was a mainstream album (great however), and How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb was somewhat of a mainstream album (still great as well). NLotH is not, however. It's far too experimental and different. Although sadly, it doesn't seem that awesome. For the moment, anyway.

Well, if you count in the material they have released so far, I can fairly say I'm sure about it.

  3. I was hopeing that this album would blow me away on the 1st listen like actung or pop, even HTDAAB but on 1st,2nd 3rd 4th run through it im still a little empty, maby a couple off months might do it ( i mean it took a month or to, to love zooropa ) i was hopeing for more,,,more wild horse, mofo, vertigo, stay.More songs that dont revolve around girls who look like rainbows or other crap bonos singing about on this album, i mean the song "ill go crazy if i dont go crazy 2night" is very bad.I was hopinng to prove my oasis mates that U2 will pull it out off the bag and be better that dig out your soul but im afrade that they are going to win this war .

I HAD A LOVER,I LOVED HER LIKE NO OTHER ,SHE HAD SOUL SOUL SOUL SWEET SOUL.

  4. It's been said on this thread many many times over, but it bears repeating: People should allow the songs to grow on them. Even though 90% of U2 fans wax poetic about how genius AB was, I remember that when it came out almost everyone I knew was like, "WTF?" I was in Denver for Zoo TV, and very few fans understood they were witnessing artistic genius. This was when grunge was huge, and the honest truth is that AB didn't gain mad respect until long, long after they toured. Many of fans at the Denver concert were confused and I can't tell you how many times I've heard the phrase, "What happened to U2?" I am a U2 fan who is practically blinded by my loyalty, but I know it, so I work extra hard not be a sheep and give up my own point of view when I listen to their songs. That being said . . . I can't decide if this album is genius or shite or somewhere in between just yet. I LOOOOOOVE Magnificent. Best song in over a decade, for me. Like alot of people on this thread, I'm frustrated by Bono's insistence to go all beatnik with full paragraphs where simple poetry would serve the music better. Its kind of a songwriter's hubris that you see with Paul Simon or McCartney late in life where they just think they can make any sentence fit into any melodic space they want it to with no care for how it sounds. But I hated Until the End of the World when I first heard it and now I listen to it every day. So that goes to show you what the bleep I know.

At least this fan will be listening to this album alot over the next year.

Some good points. I hated UTEOTW, So Cruel, Zoo Station and [wait for it.... UltraViolet ) for an age. Clearly I was close to insanity.
On first listen I nearly ditched Breathe off the iPod. But sensibility prevailed and I'm starting to love it.

  7. Songs start to live a life in your own life. You don't abandon a baby after birth when it's ugly, now do you? (A ridiculous comparison, I know...)

    WTF,,,,,,The lyric police
  11. For instance, i'm not too sure if many would rate say One Step Closer or perhaps A Man Or A Woman as their fave on the last album, with this one, all tracks have been mentioned as favourites from different people.

They would happen to be my favourites.

Get you U2 Glasse OFF, obviously you cant see behind the aura of U2.It is artistically pretty lame, 5 YEARS IN THE MAKING ???????? 5 minutes more like it
Seriously Bono is not God ,he doesnt walk on water , niether does the band.Seriously some people would say it was the greatest if U2 if he sang about edited by crew. You just don't get it !
This is a terrible piece of work , nothing short of a dud. Yeah you and the other 7 million followers of Bono will buy as part of devotion, when are fans going to break out and say this is shit.
And if i get attacked for my views well at least im not un original !!!!!!
Please look at the album from a OBJECTIVE view point, this is the the thead to talk about your disapointment , well i am .Totally crap , AND DONT THINK im not the only one who thinks that , it's not being receieved very well by many.U2 have to be down a couple of mill, becase to give it 5 stars thats a lot of money to give to Rolling Stone.Coldplay's album shits on this at least thats got feel , like i wanna listen to a guy talking to a phone >????
And believe ehat you may but i have loved u2 FOR 20 YEARS , BUT THEY HAVE TOTALLY TOTALLY fucked up this time.
Berlin was a disaster because no coherence, no real go by BONO and actually he sounded terrible, all over the place.Oh sorry i can't say anything bout he messiah can i ?????
Thier ar many more fans who they have lost im begining o be one , and i never thought i would be .Beyond no dobt thee worst album of 09

It's cool to have your own opinion, and if you don't like it, fair play to you. It's why we have this topic.

Two things: How many albums this year have been released for 2009? There has to be worse...it's only February - hasn't Katy Perry got an album coming out? And just be watchful with the language - no idea what you said, but we have young 'uns here.
