1. U2 play live for The Culture Show

Early next week, an episode of The Culture Show on BBC Two in the UK will focus on U2. Broadcast from 10pm on Tuesday the 24th, it features interviews with all four band members by Lauren Laverne - and intimate live performances. See the BBC's listing for this episode here.

The interviews and performances took place at the start of this month at the band's Dublin studios. We are presently unsure of the exact date but believe it took place no earlier than the 2nd of February and no later than the 5th. What we do know is what the band played. The print edition of the NME dated for the 21st of February features a lengthy U2 article, "The Superleague of Ordinary Gentlemen" by James McMahon, and in this article, McMahon describes watching the band play for The Culture Show.

If you plan to watch The Culture Show and don't want to know anything in advance about what U2 played, please skip to the next article. Otherwise, read on for the setlist.

To get a bit more precise, the NME states that No Line On The Horizon was played "three and a half" times. For all three songs, this listing constitutes their live debuts. The NME adds that the performances are "ropey yet enjoyable", and that Bono promises the author "you will never, ever see us play that badly again". We are unaware how much of the set will be broadcast.

Worth a thread I think, on tuesday we can discuss this setlist Preview:

And rumours are that Crazy will be performed tomorrow at the Echo's in Germany.

This topic is for discussion on first live performances of these three songs (if played of course). Let's hope it's great and promising

    Looking forward to Magnificent!
  2. Magnificent is gonna be insane live. I can't wait for these!!
  3. I'm looking forward to the show. On pictures of the NME article Bono plays his Gretsch, which song could that be? Magnificent because it has some sort of second riff in that that sounds like he is playing The Fly?

I hope it's not Magnificent. Bono needs to be all over the B-stage and in the crowd for that song.
