    Oh ok, I see.
So you only believe that the physical world exists then?

    Again, religion interests me
Pretty much. We die, and I think that's it. It's depressing to think about, and I could be wrong, but that's what I think

  2. Same
    I was brought up Catholic

But I tend not to listen to my parents.
And so was previously a big cynic (and still am to a degree).

That's what I can't accept, if there is no god etc. when you die, you simply cease to exist.

    What does that mean?

I find that really scary, as you can't imagine what that would feel like, cause can you imagine not thinking?

It would be like falling asleep (and not dreaming either) except you never wake up.

  4. Lol, well just look at Jesus, I mean think about it. God is a single dad living up in heaven with his son Jesus, and he says, "Son, I'm gonna send you to Earth on a suicide mission, but it's not going to hurt, because you're me.Well, actually, it might hurt for 3 days, but then you'll come back, and it's a bit complicated, but it'll work itself out.Trust me, we-I mean I, can do this, I'll find a nice Palestinian virgin to impregnate, we'll send Uncle Gabriel to tell her what's going to happen, it'll be great!" Meanwhile, Jesus is staring up at dad like he's a maniac.

I'm not going to argue with you (I find it kind of ridiculous how people argue over religion)

  6. It's completely ridiculous, just give each other respect and tolerance, it's what Jesus taught

It's a hard thing to accept, it really is. I think the reason we have religion is because humans are the only species that know they are going to die, so they come up with these things that happen when you die to make it seem less scary and more understandable, and that's fine, except for that it often spews hate

Exactly. It is scary... I mean, who's to say that there isn't something past heaven? I really hope so. Life has to have a greater purpose than to live for 80 years or so and just end.

Just my opinion, and it's too late to get past this for me lol

Do you know anything about Hinduism?

Some of their beliefs are really far-fetched.

But I think with Jesus, he was the sacrificial lamb and by his death, people would be free from sin.

At least that's how I've heard it works.

It's very crazy, but the thing is, all religions are insane, but since you were raised Christian (And me too, for that matter) you never really think of it as far-fetched, because it's what you're used too.
I think Jesus was a great philosopher, but nothing more

Yeah, life would be pathetically futile if you ceased to exist after a few decades.

Why would anyone bother being good? If a murderer is going to end up in the same place as some good person.
