1. I love the title "Songs of Ascent." It fits with my initial thought about how a follow-up album would continue the storyline of people waking up to their place in the world. Since they started out with the idea of releasing two EPs, two LPs seems plausible. Can't wait.

Of course, Bono's comparison of the album to Coltrane's "A Love Supreme," widely considered to be the greatest jazz album ever made, did bring me an audible laugh. Never short on humility, are you, Hewson?
  2. So, it will be 2010. Hope that brings us additional shows to the tour like they did back at ZooTV/Zooropa Times. I have a good feeling about it.
  3. I'm super stoked about it. I would love an album like this supposedly is, I love the title too
  4. What an unbelievable comment to read! Another record this year would be mega!

It said Eno didn't like Boots at first (which was a given). So his opinion matches a fair amount of others. But sources would have been nice.
  6. Sheesh, more mellow than NLOTH??? How much more mellow can it get than MOS, Unknown Caller, White as Snow, Cedars of Lebanon...

    I guess I like my U2 rockin'.
  7. Brilliant news, though I kind of suspected such when Larry mentioned a possible quick follow-up album on Radio 2 last week. But the news of this record being lower-key is great news for me as I found the middle three tracks to be the let-down area of NLOTH, while I felt that FEZ-Being Born and Unknown Caller picked up the ball where Passengers left it over a decade ago, so more of that kind of stuff would be the way to go in my opinion - move away from the over-familiar guitar sounds of much of NLOTH and do something different with a bit of intricate experimentation running right through it. I think this album will happen, as the guys aren't getting any younger, plus the fact that to me NLOTH still sounds unfinished despite the delays so I'm guessing there's a few good bits knocking about the studio which only need a few months work done on them. Bring it on, guys.
