1. The reaction? me personally, CRANK IT up everytime..most of the times the announcers have raved about it, it is just so much better than anything on the radio right now, and thats not having a go at music right now, just Magnificent is just that......

The radio verison is similar i guess to the live versions, starts pretty quickly, probably runs for about 4 minutes or so, the edit doesn't spoil it, just makes it more radio friendly, a bit like City Of Blinding Lights.

I wasn't concentrating when i heard the start, but before the Will I Am synth sounds start, it doesn't seem to have a beat for 4 or 8 bars.

  2. Hopefully it does better than GOYB then - that was the worst lead single they've put out in a long time.

So what did they cut out for the radio edit? Since it's about a minute shorter, was the intro shortened so it starts at the keyboard bits.
  3. Interesting choice for a single: an anthemic song about God. I hope it does well, but it is certainly a risk. Then again, "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" was a prayer and it skyrocketed up the charts. Of course, that was another era. Back then, singles mattered; radio was huge in encouraging sales of a single and its associated album.

I noticed several requests in this thread for "Breathe." I wholeheartedly disagree; it's not very radio-friendly. I don't think the masses are ready for THAT much sophistication, which is why "Get on Your Boots" was released first. And like it or not, GOYB really was an excellent choice for first single because of its danceable, catchy vibe.

What's bizarre is how there doesn't seem to be an ideal ballad choice for an upcoming single. "Moment of Surrender" is an amazing song, but it's too long. Can you imagine how much editing (shortening) would have to take place to make radio embrace it? "White As Snow" and "Cedars of Lebanon" have no chorus, so they definitely would not work as singles.

Best bets for a third single, I'd say, are "I'll Go Crazy..." and "No Line on the Horizon." Still, it's unfortunate that a big U2 ballad (a la "One" or "Stuck in a Moment") probably won't happen this time around.

  4. I think the singles will be Boots, Magnificent, Breathe and Crazy Tonight, in that order. Magnificent is the best, IMO. Magnificent, Breathe and Moment of Surrender are up there with WOWY, ISHFWILF and WTSHNN for greatness.
  5. it will be number 1 here in holland, i swear!!

they play it a lot allready! and on every station...

  6. That can be a problem too, that by the time the single is released that everyone had enough of it.

  7. yeah i know... but in the top 40 is Milow with Ayo Technology stil at 2 after 16 weeks(!!) so it is possible (same goes for The Killers-Human)

They were last here in early summer 2007, along with Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois, in what turned out to be an influential period of songwriting.

Alex Courtes, who directed the 'Boot's video in London last December, is also here - at the helm again for the new shoot. First day of filming has been in a local riad and on the streets of this ancient city.

  9. I agree...it looks like most of the songs that didnt make this album will be on the next. I believe it was Adam who already ,entioned Tripoli and Every Breaking Wave.I personally HATE the remixes unless its a "new mix" like NLOTH2.

    Tripoli became Being Born....
  11. I'll have to keep a listen out for it. We play TripleM a lot, so it's a surprise I haven't heard it yet. Unless I'm listening at the wrong times.

It's not bad - now that I've heard it like five times from the promo CD.
