1. Apparently the band r thinking of re doing sum early albums according to this article.

...Among the revelations from the banter with the crowd: U2 is considering reworking and re-releasing some early work including its debut album "Boy" released in 1980 that included U2's first big hit "I Will Follow."

"I would love to sing that album again and finish that," said lead singer Bono. He said they were rushed from the studio producing "Boy" because they "couldn't afford another hour."

"The early records, there's some beautiful songs that feel a little bit unfinished to us," he said.

Pressed on what he'd like to change, the Irish rocker singled out his "phony English accent" on "Boy."....

personally i think this would be awesome, what are your thoughts and what albums would u like redone?
  2. They say that about every record. I wouldnt get my hopes up. they wanna do POP the rattle and hum songs October, Boy.. finish Bad off. TUF. .... Passengers.... list goes on.... If anything we might see something like EPs and singles and B-sides from 'songs of ascent' if anything but thats doubtful too. Tour is there major worry now.
  3. That songs have been reworked and finished in every single concert, Bono himself explained that on U2byU2 and some interviews...
I don't want this. That records are good the way they are. Why changing them? No, thanks.

    exactly my thoughts.
  5. the original recorded versions are the ones that we grew up with, the ones that defined U2 in our hearts, including some imperfectness perhaps, but that is exactly what made U2 so popular in the early years: take some risks, sometimes fail, but always passionate and driven.
They can't put that in their early songs if they would record them again. However, in concert they still can.
  6. No thanks. I don't want another HTDAAB.
  7. yep... fuck off all reworks and make new material... this is what we want and not to have 3-5 different versions of the same records.
Fuck the past, kiss the future

I don't give this much weight, of course I heard the same interview and heard them talk about comparing it to a poet making revisions and so on and so forth, yet I really didn't take it as being a really serious thought? Maybe one of the "if we were to..." kind of things. I could be wrong, but I hope I'm not. I also don't think there would be much point in it.
  9. Please U2 don't do it.
  10. Would be nice to see some new versions of already exisiting albums/songs as a little B-side compilation or so...
    But re-releasing it, no thanks
  11. Only do it with a fresh vision. Make the songs completely different. Give us fresh arrangements and new sounds. Give us Boy in ZooTV style.
