1. UK slipcase version 6?
    Japan Bonus track version 7?

    also:
NLOTH standard single disc has different packaging in the UK?

I've seen pictures of NLOTH in a standard jewel case, however not in any store in the UK

The HMV exlcusive slipcase release of the album is also in a super jewel case.

So has the NLOTH, standard version the only been released in a super-jewel-case?

What about the remasters? - the remasters + JT 20th anniversary + 18 singles [standard Non-boxed set versions] - were released in Super Jewel Cases in the UK, is this a UK or EU thing or is it the same in the US or canada? Or anywhere else?

Are we seeing a George Lucas-ification of U2, all these multiple releases and tweaking?

[p.s. i bought the digipak, as much as i like shiny cover, for the price i paid plus all that cardboard and acetate, they could have put a physical copy of Linear in there rather than a quote/unquote 'download link':N ]
  2. A physical copy of linear in the digi-pak would have took rhe shine out of the box set. Overall, the digi-pak was the best value. The HMV slip case wasn't worth the purchase

Amen to all. I eventually bought the digipack too, it's the better option due to the possibility of downloading Linear (and later burning it out to a DVD which will be exactly the same as the official DVD which came with the box set) and the 3-times-less price...

I would like a jewel case for NLOTH though

  4. But thats exactly the point, its this 'limited edition/bonus track/anchor track' incentivisation culture thats running through the releases...

yes they have all of that in the box set. The box set is the all in one if you fancy the expense. The other formats are for whatever suits you best.
  6. I HATE it when a band exploits its fans by charging them the double, triple or quadruple amount for a "limited" edition with a "bonus" track. It generates a three- class fan society. Those who can afford spending additional money, those who can't afford it and therefore download it illegally, and those who decide for financial and legal reasons to not have all available songs. I just HATE it.

Super Jewel case for me, thank you. I don't need the movie. How I got an MP3 of "Winter" is another story.

exploitation isn't the word but I hear your point. Again it all boils down to the 'buy whichever edition suits you and your wallet' mindset
  8. If a rock CD is a piece of art - and I suppose it is - then there should only be the complete edition, not a variety from cheap (incomplete) to expensive (complete). Would you want to see half of Leonardo's Mona Lisa for half the entry price? Would you have encouraged Leonardo to paint an extended version to show only to very rich people and therefore make more money from it?

fair point again. Multiple formats of the same thing may indeed be a cheap scam to some but from a business point of view it makes a bit of sense. A nice little box set is way better than a dodgy torrent download. Multiple formats please multiple fans. Sure I couldn't care less if it was only the CD they sold but I like the vinyl and the digipak so if they are on offer then I have the choice. Always nice.

Mona Lisa is an ugly duck so if she was half finished then
  10. It's no problem when you get the boxset for £17

Usually I disagree with you, but you are right
