The promotour so far proved that there is little to no space for inspirational improvisation inside the NLOTH songs, which I think is not so good. I do not want to be able to sing a song from beginning to end exactly as on the album, knowing beforehand how the whole song will go. I have an iPod for that

Breathe has this clicktrack under it, and the pianopart. Boots the drumtracks/loops. Actually most of the songs have backingtracks with additional guitars, piano, drumloops, etc. which leaves no room for improvisation/extensions during the songs.
I still remember that epic "Bad" version in Rotterdam, Joshua Tree tour that took ages to end...

Even that song had a backingtrack but at least, it did not influence the whole song (the Yamaha DX-7 sequence was silenced somewhere during the song).
U2 is at their best when playing live and being able to react and perform based on the circumstances during the concert. And I really fear that that part could be disappointing. I hope I will have that wrong though.
