But,for U2 standards,as far as sales, both cd's did not do well around the globe.I must admit,PoP sounds very good live. The songs have more balls to them and it's a better cd than Zooropa IMO.The Leeds show from 08.28.97 is a great gig.I know the Europeans love both cd's.So,I will be careful here ,as to not offend or insult anyone.I think they should play Dirty Day.But,the truth of the matter is..they wont. They played the song only a handful of times in 1993.But NOT right after the release of Zooropa. They played it at the very end of the 1993 tour.Dirty Day was played only 10 times total, ever. The title track was played even less, 3 times live.I could not believe when the band played their big Dublin show (08.28.93) that was aired over the BBC,they only played 2 songs from Zooropa .I know they did add a few more by the time they hit Australia, but still. So,what Im saying is..if they didnt play the songs from Zooropa back then, when cd just came out, they wont play them now.I wish they would.But..dont hold your breath waiting to hear a song from Zooropa, besides Stay.

I think you named THE reason to play these songs now
They didnt gave the songs a big chance back then, why not giving it now?
The music landscape changes and whatever was considered weak back then can be rather brilliant right now and vica versa.

Sure, there's no big chance they'll play loads of Zooropa/Pop songs, but they played The Unforgettable Fire, Ultraviolet and Electrical Storm...dont see a reason why Last Night On Earth, Mofo, Discotheque or Numb couldnt be the next surprise in the set...

I just checked TM and the GA tickets are around $55-$58 (but of course there are none left). Seats in the 100s are usually about as good as they get without being RedZone or VIP, so of course they're the most expensive (though I agree that price is a lot). The $95 seats are in the upper levels and the $35 seats are behind the stage/in the nosebleeds.

Ok..I assumed that the GA $250 as well. The $95 seats are the way to go.I sat on the side and behind the stage at my 2 show in Sept. For my 2 shows in July (Philly,NY) I have similar seats and Im pleased.I dont know why the band have to charge $250 for seats.A guy was sitting just 6 rows in front of me,and he paid more than double than me for his seat.I would have tried to get GA if I knew they were cheaper than the $95.I like being in the pit. But,thanks for clearing up the GA stuff.

True. They also pulled out Your Blue Room, who saw than coming.I just get the feeling that, the band tend to forget, almost neglect those 2 releases now.The Europeans seem to love both cd's,so maybe they could pull out a few from PoP and Zooropa in 2010.

You said in your initial post that GA was $250. That was what I was saying you were ripped off for. If you're now saying you made an error and you meant seats, then I can understand - it was a roughly equivalent price here.

I know PJ and U2 get on, but their musical styles and approach vary hugely. That's why I felt they couldn't be compared.

Yes,I didnt know the GA were that price.I stand corrected. The only prices I see are $250,$95 and so on.I assumed that GA was $250.But,even so,$250 is nuts to ask your fans to pay.The first few rows of 100 and 200 sections is just an outrageous price. The 200 sections arent even good seats, and they ask $250 .Im sorry, but thats just ripping off your fans.I paid $95 for my 2 shows in NY this past Sept.I even have better seats for Philly and NY next year. Both gigs and next years shows I paid $95.All in section 100.That is reasonable.
  6. Hopefully they're working on something for the tour. Would be highly stupid of them to return to the States and Europe with the same show. I would have thought that a 30 year old band that has had success after success could just do it their own way, forget critics, stop trying to please new fans etc.

On a positive note, this list makes good reading.

44 Shows in, already has the highest average gross, highest average attendance, close to the overall attendance and set to smash the overall gross. U2360 is the only tour on there that is still in progress and with another leg approaching I think we can safely say they are going to blow everything out of the water.

But they need to keep it fresh. I saw 2 shows (Wembley 14 and Sheffield) and had the same setlist, loved both nights but if I attended a 3rd show next year, I'd be expecting some change.

Drop the preaching, we know that Bono has his (Red), One, DATA etc etc. We read about them in the tour programmes and can see them on the U2 website. Just go back to the music. All the time spent talking about Suu Kyi (Yes, she deserves to be released and globbaly people must unite on this) and so forth could be another song.

They need to shake it up. Stop playing songs in the same position. If they've rehearsed a song, they surely can play it at anytime. Bring back some songs that would just live off the stage (Mofo, EBTTRT, The Fly, Zoo Station, Last night on Earth, HMTMKMKM, Discotheque, Bullet etc) and bring back some surprises (already had Ultraviolet, Unforgettable Fire).

    Just my thoughts.

    You need more thoughts!

Yep...I swear if he preaches at Glastonbury there will be things thrown and a bit of abuse at the singer. It will happen...they don't want to hear preaching. A GnR show back in the early 90s...Axl started whinging and whining about people who had pissed him off and he got a big-ass rock thrown at him. Tommy Thayer from KISS fucked up a note or two and got a bottle thrown at him. Madonna got booed at a show for talking about Gypsies. Britney Spears got booed here for miming.

If them stuffing up a note or whinging about how bad people have fucked them around, imagine the response to some campaign or poverty initiative, at Glasto. They're getting bad responses now and how much people don't want to see the 'most overrated' or ''shittiest' band of all time...you reckon that'll go down well? Methinks not. Meknows not.

And a further note about preaching, I sure as hell didn't go to shows to hear preaching. Alice Cooper in August - he teaches Bible class on Wednesday mornings and plays golf but did he preach about how good his birdies and holes in one or how God got him off the alcohol? No. He rocked the fuck out and that's what I paid for. Alice knows rock and roll. Does Bono? Clearly not (well, not at least after 2000).

I also agree with your second statement. They rehearsed Even Better Than The Real Thing numerous times not only on this tour but on the last one as well...whip it out. It can't get much less of a reaction to Your Blue Room or Unknown Caller, can it? While they're both very good songs, they ain't really rock show material.

I think they're too scared to get out of their comfort zone - and bow to the average showgoer who wouldn't have bought or downloaded NLOTH or heard of Passengers - time to grow a set and actually rock the place like Bruce Springsteen does (you talk about how good he is, so do better!). Believe me, as much as I would love to hear something else from Passengers besides Miss Sarajevo or Your Blue Room, they don't really rock, do they?

The Fly, Zoo Station and Mofo do rock. Beautiful Day and Elevation do not rock.

i agree with u to some extent. i do think they need to get out of their comfort zone. my suggestion is, out of 20 songs, pick 10 hits that don´t change and some other 5 fan songs that don´t change. The other 10, pick out of a bucket with 40!

about glasto, i agree too. they can surprise everyone though. People who say they are overrated only heard ATYCLB and HTDAAB that were more radio songs. most dont have a clue of how diverse, experimental and great u2 are... and that is explainable, like i just explained.

also, avoid preaching at glasto. I mean, on tour they should cut down the most, put a sign on stage before the show and put it at the end, put a stand in the stadium explaining, give out flyers, braclets, but don´t chit chat between songs. What bothers me in versions of One from 2005 boots is that it takes 5 minutes for the real thing to start!

i totally think they are rich and famous, don´t give a shit about charts!!!!! make good new fresh music!!!

Make it more like Lovetown and the earlier tours. Those tours were great because they weren't overly rehearsed.

They haven't listened to the entire 90s output. Achtung, Zooropa, Passengers, Pop...four very, very, very good albums in a row. Not many bands can do that.

There's one where he pisses on for 10 minutes. I don't remember which show it was at but it's a North American one - probably one not taped as well.

Nobody wants to hear about preaching. If I want that I'll go to Alice Cooper's Bible Class - although guaranteed you'd want to be there.

Hahahaha - U2 have given a shit about the charts since...oooh...1987. But the music was deserving of it then. If U2 were a new band starting out and their first hit was Beautiful Day, I would not be a fan. Lucky they put out some very good material on NLOTH - otherwise I'd have seperated the studio and live stuff so far.

Let's consider U2 to Boston's Greatest Rock And Roll Band - Aerosmith.

Aerosmith are a perfect example. Rocks and Toys In The Attic and Get Your Wings were literal masterpieces in rock and roll - some of the 'best in the business' have cited those as inspirations, Slash being one. Surely someone would call him someone who actually knows rock and roll, or hard rock or whatever you wanna call it.

Then it got to 1985 - was it 1985? - and we get this turdbag effort called Done With Mirrors. More like Done With Songs That Are Actually Worth Listening To. Fast-foward to 1989 and Pump with ten awesome tunes, then 1993 with Get A Grip which is listenable right through. They then enter their 'U2 Start To Suck' stage where two albums in a row, while they sound OK on the surface they're actually not overly brilliant; Nine Lives (1997) and Just Push Play (2001).

Sounding like U2's stages of progression yet? It sure as hell struck me the other day to say YES!

Then they release Honkin' On Bobo for 2004 (HoB is a great title) and the music is some of the best of the last 15 years and sounds like the stuff that those two previous albums should have been. Plenty more bands like that, just not ones I can think of at the moment. So sometimes you have a crap, but appeals to the mainstream effort.

The worst thing in all this? I love Just Push Play.
  10. I really miss a song B-man could sing Halleluja in (40, Running To Stand Still, Walk On)... It brings a whole new level to a show.
  11. Well like some of the fans said walking out of giants stadium. IT'S A GREAT BIG STAGE WITH A SHITTY SET LIST. I was like wow assholes. But the one guy had a point to much ATYCLB I love the album but play POP POP POP ZOOROPA ZOOROPA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Songs that should be on the next few legs.

    Mofo
    Discotheque
    Numb
    Please
    LNOE
    Do you feel loved

IT'S TIME TO BRING BACK THE MID TO LATE 90'S

POP ZOOROPA FOR THE NEXT LEG'S PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. U2360 is NLOTH promotional tour for the album, it is incomprehensible that on 44 dates four songs from the album have not been played in any concert, it would be logical to play them sometime in 2010 but i doubt it...
