1. Hi,

When a new tour gets up and running I always get some crazy ideas in my head of how U2 could possibly beat what they are currently doing. From the overload of information in Zoo TV to the grandiose ridiculousness of Popmart to the more intimate Elevation and the 'find the stadium again' Vertigo to the massive scale of the Claw in 360. What next?

My idea currently is a 'Back to Basics' tour. No TV screens. No hook ups to war torn countries, Salman Rushdie or the International Space Station. Just 4 guys and their instruments in a very, very small arena tour. And when I say small arena I mean venues the size of Manchester Apollo not the M.E.N.

What knid of setlist does anybody think they should play on such a tour? I'd like something like the following:

    1. The Cry / Electric Co.
    2. Elevation
    3. The Fly
    4. Until The End Of The World
    5. A Day Without Me
    6. MLK
    7. The Unforgettable Fire
    8. Unkown Caller (segue into...)
    9. Streets.

    Acoustic Set:
    10. In God's Country
    11. In A Little While
    12. Desire
    13. Yahweh

    Back to full band:
    14. Wire
    15. Bullet The Blue
    16. Running To Stand Still
    17. Bad
    18. October
    19. New Years Day
    20. One Tree Hill

    Encore:
    21. A Sort Of Homecoming
    22. Out of Control
    23. One
    24. Breathe
    25. Zooropa
  2. Where does the £££££ come from with such small venues?
  3. Who cares? I'm thinking out of the box
  4. I'd rather be under the Claw with the ZOO TV screens, personally.

  5. Management cares...

It's a nice idea, but I would also rather see them playing a crappy setlist under The Claw then a brilliant setlist on an empty stage lol...
  6. Elevation was 'back to basics' imo. If you compare it to ZooTV, Popmart and U2 360.

    EDIT:

If you really want to discuss your setlist (which is pretty awesome btw) please use one of the dozen setlist threads we have

Thanks, I'll find a setlist thread nexte time. I've got loads of silly ideas up my sleeve. I'm currently working on a setlist that has to include 2 songs from each album.
  8. Good idea, and would be awesome to see a smal gig like that, but could you imagine how much money a ticket would be?
  9. As for the setlist..I'm all-in
  10. I would love it if they did a back to basics album. No overdubs, no multiple producers, etc. Lock them in the studio for a couple of months and see what happens.
