I have a feeling we'll see a major revamp when the new album hits. Just reading between the lines.

Woops, yeah, sorry, I meant per year. If it was per month, well...I don't like U2 THAT much.

But if U2 do go ahead and decide to do the pre-sale tickets again, is it possible to buy tickets for multiple shows if you're a paid U2.com member?

If - and I do mean IF - U2 do the ticketing again, it will probably not be for folks that sign up in the 11th hour.

...After the clusterfuck of 2004, with the ticketing and the brokers buying up multiple memberships...

...IF they are to do the ticketing, it will probably be for those who've kept up there memberships for over a year or two... maybe more....

What is wrong with that? Nothing. Loyalty should be rewareded. (Certainly some will disagree.)

That makes sense. Under these "IF" conditions, those people who have been loyal members for a while can buy their tickets to however many shows they want, and those of us who have just signed up will have to wait for what's left?

NO, that isn't what I'm saying.

First, the ticket was only for two tickets for two shows and not any and every show wanted.

Second, it IS a way to defeat the ticket brokers, as assuredly - the brokers have not kept up their memberships past the first one they paid.

The issue isn't against fans but against the brokers that bought mulitple memberships and then scalped the tickets.

And yes, it IS fair that IF ticketing should be part of the membership again, that it be a reward for those that have kept up their memberships. In that, I'd say those that have had them for 12+ months, at least. And perhaps those that have since the beginning, maybe have access to more shows.

Okay. I gotcha now. Thank you for the info.

I wasn't disagreeing with you; I completely agree that if pre-sale ticketing becomes part of the membership again, it is absolutely fair for it to go to those who have held a membership for quite some time, as opposed to people like me who have, or will be, signing up only recently.

It will be interesting to see how they actually do handle ticket sales come tour time.

I just cant say I agree...i had a membership for two years ago and decided not to renew and i knew the consequences as above....at the end of the day I think its almost a SCAM if they do this pre-sale as they are basically saying "we'll give you first dibs to tickets if you agree to pay us £30 a year for a few years for little of no return (ie access to a very poor website)!"

I would never ever accuse U2 of that (being scammers) and thats why I dont think it will happen. If it does I will be a little disappointed.

I respectfully disagree... fanclub memberships and ticketing have gone hand in hand since Propaganda, as far as U2 is concerned. That said, it is the norm with most bands these days. It is an attempt to get the tickets to the fans and not the brokers, first and foremost.

Paying for the priviledge to get tickets first? Sounds bad at face value but that isn't the whole story.

That said, another GREAT way to combat the brokers is what Bruce Springsteen did on his solo tour a few years ago.
    - You used your credit card to buy tickets
    - All tickets were will call at the ticket window.
    - You had to show your ID and the CC used to buy the tickets to get the tickets.

    U2 should consider that idea.
