1. Interesting setlist shake-up. Wasn't expecting Pride to be dropped - so much so that I was looking at the setlist for ages wondering why it was still ony 23 songs given the additions Doofus...

Wonder if YBR will stay or become an Electrical Strom-esque rarity?

Pretty positive reviews I'm hearing too. Great stuff.
  2. gotta love U2.coms claim that Sunday Bloody Sunday made its tour debut last night

Agreed: I'm glad they played it, but (i) it's not a live song, (ii) the performance was OK but nothing special I think (though I wasn't there), and (iii) Acrobat please, if they really want to dig out stuff!

  4. OMG.....

Sebastien needs a kick up the arse.... (what's new)...

  5. Hopefully he meant tour debut in the US. If he meant tour debut for the entire thing so far, then he definitely needs a good kick.

What would really worry me would be if he said it made it's first tour debut.
  6. maybe they will play now "Drowning Man"

the fact the comment has been removed suggest it was just a tits up moment

Pride being dropped was quite a surprise... (a good one, believe me...)

YBR was interesting... to be honest, i didn't even recognize it first. Was a great show overall, I'll post a review later...

But then again, I wasn't there anyway. And complaining about the set of a show you haven't been to is probably as intelligent as trying to dictate others how they have to act during a concert.

The only strange part was when they played Ybr. It was an odd place. Alot of people were like what the hell is this. Elevation had the crowd in a freenzy( Im not even a big fan of the song but had to admit the energy was amazing) I dont know a good place to put that song. But UTEOTW was great in its position. Bono ran the circle full speed like The Fly during Elevation tour and had the crowd going ape shit. Night 2 was more lift then first night. Really loved Chicago crowd.
  10. :edit: Whoa, I wrote a lot...sorry for the overload here, haha. I'll put a little "highlights" part down at the end.

    Alright...Chicago, Night 1...what a night.

I had pretty good seats (about the best $95 seats you could get). Snow Patrol was great- I think I'm going to have to get their newest CD (although I recognized a lot of what they played as their older music). As soon as Space Oddity started playing, everyone went crazy (since it had already been over 45 minutes since Snow Patrol went off). As soon as Larry started playing, I changed my mind about Breathe being the opener, haha...there's an aspect about it that you just don't get via the recording (much more so than the other songs). NLOTH was good...not many people around me knew it, though, which was unfortunate. Get On Your Boots was very good live, actually- I didn't expect it to get the crowd going as much as it did. Very well done. Magnificent was...well, magnificent. Beautiful Day had sweet lighting...although I think I agree a bit with whoever said before that it sounds a little more pre-recorded or something than last tour. Elevation was one of the highlights of the night- everyone jumping up and down, singing the ooh's, the place shaking, Edge and Bono jumping up and down...fantastic. ISHFWILF and Stand By Me...those of you who have been know...it felt like a church service, almost, with everyone singing- also another one of my highlights. I started saying bad words in my head when I heard Stuck, because I knew it meant that we weren't going to hear Your Blue Room or Stay, which was rather disappointing...but I found myself singing along pretty shortly, and Edge's falsetto part at the end was awesome- he definitely upstages Bono with that (and Bono knows it, too). Not many people sang along with Unknown Caller, which was dumb, because the words were on the screen. *sigh* The solo in that was just amazing...might be my favorite solo that Edge does. TUF was just incredible- lights, music, screen extending...yeah. I took video of it...but as I watched it yesterday, I realized that my camera (which is relatively knew, hence why I didn't know this) shuts off the sound while it's zooming, which is dumb...so I've got a nice video of TUF, but sound cuts out for like 3-ish seconds maybe 7 or 8 times (incredibly frustrating). City of Blinding Lights definitely had the best visuals, and was pretty awesome, too...although I thought it sounded a little more pre-recorded than last tour, too...maybe that's just me. That was my dad's favorite song, though (he's not a big U2 fan as you'll see later on, but since I'm not all that old- 19- he didn't want me to come up to the concert alone, so he came with me). He also enjoyed Vertigo, which was great...lots of energy, more jumping, loved the strobe light effect (made up a little bit for not getting to see UTEOTW). The Crazy remix was awesome...nobody knew what the heck it was for a while, but eventually started getting into it...I loved it, though...probably annoyed the woman next to me by singing the whole thing. Sunday Bloody Sunday had fire with the new Iran significance- I enjoyed it- and I still can't for the life of me figure out what that new verse-ish thing is at the end, but I love it. Then came Pride...they did a good job with it, but it's never been one of my favorites, and my dad (who had earplugs, was rather tired, and was sitting down during a decent bit of the show) actually fell asleep for about 30 seconds. Definitely a crowd favorite, though. After this, the show kinda slowed down...I think they need to move something like UTEOTW or Vertigo or Elevation later in the set (Ultraviolet isn't well-enough known/remembered) to keep the energy going. MLK was...loud. Walk On was alright...I kind of tuned out a little bit at this point because of the masks, and I knew that Streets was next. Streets was incredible- red at the beginning, the flash- spectacular. One was good- at least they made it through the whole song without stopping and restarting. I was kind of expecting Bad at this point, and wasn't disappointed...it was great. Again, video zoom frustrations, but it is definitely *the* U2 live song. Maybe it was just my brain playing tricks on me at this point, but Edge sounded to me like he was about a half-step sharp- it sounds normal (and spectacular) on the video, though. I was disappointed that people didn't keep singing the '40' snippet for very long...the audience (at least around me) was stellar on songs like Elevation and ISHFWILF, and extremely lame on '40' and UC. Oh well. Encore break...Ultraviolet was awesome, although the introduction was truly bizarre. I liked the LED lights on the steering wheel now, too...and it's just a fun, energetic song (although I feel like not many people knew it). WOWY only solidified my belief that it should be dropped from the set (unless they add Shine LIke Stars)- maybe it was my ears playing tricks on me again, but Bono and Edge sounded like they were in different keys to me, and it's not too terribly great without Shine Like Stars. Moment of Surrender was a great closer- the beginning where Bono turns his lights off and has everyone hold up their cell phones and such was breathtaking, just to see this huge stadium like that. Very well done song, too.

Overall, it was a great night...best concert I've ever been to. Really hoping they come to Indianapolis next year...I will so get GA seats and get there at 6 AM to be the first one in. School is such a drag after having done this this past weekend. I kinda wish I hadn't known quite as much what was coming- I knew what the setlist was going to be for pretty much the entire thing, and it took out a little bit of the element of surprise (but it's just so hard to resist). I still greatly enjoyed it, though, and would do it all again in a heartbeat if I could.

    Highlights
    Elevation
    ISHFWILF
    The Unforgettable Fire
    Crazy Tonight remix
    Streets
    Bad
    Moment of Surrender
