  2. Speaking of misheard lyrics I only found out today that in UTEOTW he sings "I was drowning the sorrows". I always thought it was drowning my sorrows for some reason, maybe he sings it live that way.
  3. I have always sung "drowning my sorrows" because I learnt the lyrics from my parent's Achtung Baby vynil sleeve:

I have checked my AB's CD and the lyrics are exactly the same as on the vynil, saying "my sorrows". But hearing the album version of the song, I couldn't tell if he says my or the, although I would bet on "the". It obviously sings "my" on the live version though.

  5. Anyone else here get pissed off whenever you're listening to your favorite U2 song or getting ready to and Bono somehow manages to say something about Africa and completely detatch you from your own interpretation of the song?

    That gets on my tits.

  9. Exactly what I was insinuating, it's ambiguity is the key to its power.

It's a bit like that scene from Frasier at the Christmas parade.

"Coming up, a very special guest..."

    "IT'S SANTA CLAUS!"
