i find it a "little" contradictory

Yeah, the only reasons I can envisage for monarchies being retained is a) money, e.g. tourism, because in fairness they bring in a sodload as I understand it and b) they're still an integral part of the class identity we have here, this inherent deference people have towards those in the supposedly higher social strata. I mean, I was discussing this the other day, if I met the Queen or other royalty, I pray to high heaven that I would have the guts to not submit to social pressure and bow etc. I didn't put them in the position they're in, so they can bugger off quite frankly. Chances are I'll never meet them, but like, yeah that's what I hope.

    hahaha, classic!

Well, Mysterious Ways should work better

  4. Yeah I'd reckon he's talking more AB thru Pop, but still... For every one song that works in this equation, I could name you three that would be utterly atrocious.

That or he's still hung up on how Elevation is about sex. Seems so proud of that for some reason.
  5. I'm a declared Republican (NOT in the US-party sense, God forbid) too.

No one should be given any more chances for having a healthy or rich life without (he, she or his parents) having deserved it on their own.

We talkin' Royal Wedding right now?

edit: Ah, yes. I see the posts a little back.

Not trying to offend anyone but I totally agree. The fact that individuals "buy into" the royals only perpetuates their ability to have such lives of privilege. I suppose I very well might of offended someone just now.

I wouldn't worry bud - we (people in general, not I specifically) have a right to be offended lol reminds me of a brilliant sketch by an Aussie comic who does a bit over here, but I can't remember his name. He just said something along the lines of people complaining about being offended, and just saying 'so what? Be offended. You're not gonna get leprosy from it' etc.

They'll end up being your King and Queen too one day, bud. Not that fussed by the prospect? Me neither lol. I don't mean to sound patronising etc. when I say that they'll be your monarchy too one day, I'm sure you're well aware of that; I personally only discovered the other month that the Queen is more than just the Queen of the UK lol, i.e. discovering she's also the Queen of Canada, Australia et al, and actually found the thought quite scary because there is legislation which actually still grants her authoritative and executive power over all the countries she 'rules', but no such monarch has used such rules since the end of the 'real' reign of monarchies in the UK, i.e. post-Cromwell. She could still fuck up an election at her own behest 'cause as I understand it, it's in the legislative. Worrying, to say the least. How was reception of it in Canada?
