  5. Okay well this is kinda related to U2 but kinda not. Basically I don't think I've seen a nation have such a bad week internationally since... I dunno...America invaded Iraq?

    It's been an awful 7 days here in Ireland; gale force wind and constant rain (much more so than usual) which has led to flooding everywhere. Jedward are out of X Factor (no great loss), announcement that U2 will not be playing Dublin in 2010 and of course the 'Hand of Frog' incident.

    Half a million petitions for a replay...

    ....has fallen on deaf ears and we shall not be in attendance at South Africa.

    It's a bad blow as I was saving up to go but shall have to make do with cheering on every side that plays France (even, dare I say it, the country that overachieved and won it in '66 which means they think they have an outstanding chance of winning every other tournament they play in).

    I think part of the loss will be the Irish crowd in comparison to the French, who if I'm totally honest were the worst away fans I've ever seen at a football match and from what I'm told they worst home fans of any nation worldwide. I was told it was like being at a funeral, except at this funeral the crowd boo the dead person and person serving the procession.
