1. Some do, Iron Maiden and Metallica will this year. Last year we had Green Day and Pink. The year before U2 and Madonna, and 2008 saw Bruce Springsteen, 2007 Rolling Stones. And I've probably forgotten some, I don't remember everything
  2. Iron Maiden and Metallica came to Australia last year. Fortunately I skipped both and went to the Guns N Roses show with Korn and Shihad as support acts. Shihad were pretty good but fuck knows what the appeal to people with Korn is apart from headbanging and breaking your neck. Then I went to another show a few weeks back, a little pub show and that was good fun - 150 people singing along, dancing etc to an old 1980s revival rock and roll show.

Where I am - Adelaide - it's a shame more live music doesn't come here. It's all poker machines and gambling taking up everything and essentially killed off the live music scene. Now to see live music and really experience it you gotta head up to a pub the other side of town on a Friday night. Although seeing bands you've never heard of can sometimes be pretty cool, I remember a little acoustic show I saw once. It was excellent, two Irish guys, voice and a guitar. That's it. So simple but beautifully done for maybe 250 people.

I wouldn't mind going to a Madonna show, and of course U2. Bruce and the Stones I'd see if they came over here but the Stones haven't been here since the Bridges tour in 1997 or 1998 and god knows when the last time Bruce came here was.....dot dot dot. No idea. I'm thinking next year though.

Ah but Suzi Quatro and Meat Loaf are both coming this year. That I can't wait for.
  3. I just started singing this:

    Beautiful
  4. He's got a real Nat King Cole - Johnny Cash vibe goin' on there. That's beautiful, just perfectly sung.
  5. Sung by James Darren. He was a very close friend to the late Frank Sinatra. Also an actor...

I discovered him because he has a role in some episodes of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, where the main characters sometimes go to his character's lounge/casino in the holosuites, he's a hologram. Some great moments there with some beautiful music

    Moments like this:

  6. I love that old type of music where it was all about the music and nothing else. James Darren, I'll have to find some of his albums and have a listen. I do like that a lot.
  7. He has an album called "This One's From The Heart" that I intend to buy. I just haven't gotten around to it yet.

  8. Seemed to get pretty good reviews on Amazon which usually means it's good. Usually.
  9. Now I just have to watch one of those episodes with him.

That kind of music is just so pure and nice. I love listening to Sinatra from time to time too. Just relaxing, good music.

Just love this, 2370s Star Trek collides with 1960s Vegas.
  10. I usually don't listen to a lot of it, but when that lounge type music comes on I just have to listen.

The other day I found an album called By Request Only. It's full of religious music but it's just so well done (OK, it's got a bit of filler) and the guy who does it, Ken Snyder, has a massive online following. It's nice music and if you can get past the religious references, it's hugely enjoyable. It nearly makes me wonder whether Alice Cooper, being a Christian and bible-class teacher, would enjoy it.

Not hugely familiar with Frank - do you like Roy Orbison?
  11. My experience with Orbison is limited to She's A Mystery To Me, but I like it better when Bono sings it

Just saw a Star Trek episode with James Darren. Just pure class. I really need to buy that album.

I don't listen to that type of music that much either, but I do like putting a CD from this in the stereo and just chilling out. http://www.amazon.co.uk/100-Hits-Legends-Frank-Sinatra/dp/B002LZUKW0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1306259298&sr=8-1 100 Sinatra, 5 pounds. Frank is awesome, just has a great voice, very great pronunciation, you just hear every word. He's great

  12. Anyone seen this video yet? This girl has problems!

She then goes on to post this video:

She also has twitter where she calls herself the 'youtube queen'. What a psycho!
