    I dont either, but some things just makes you cry. Some U2 songs, and when stuff like this happens.
  2. The only time I cried at a song was Smile by Michael Jackson (originally by Charlie Chaplin), MJ's version. I had that up as loud as possible and I cried hard right through it. Smile is actually one of my most favourite songs of all time....I may record it if I don't tear up at it.

    Hard to sing, that one. But so fucking beautiful.

    Miss Sarajevo has made me cry, just thinking about what happened there... The U2 New York 2001 concert with the SBD is pretty damn emotional in so many ways too.
  4. Miss Sarajevo and the entire Passengers album are possibly the greatest Eno-produced efforts besides his early solo, the Ambient series (1 to 4) and Apollo. You have to hear them....they are so vividly beautiful.

    I've been saying that about Passengers since I first heard it. One day I'd love to hear more of Passengers - the 25 hours on tape for exanple. It'd be incredible to hear as would the other NLOTH stuff produced by him.
  5. Original Soundtracks 1 is great, songs like Slug, Your Blue Room and Miss Sarajevo should be classics.
  6. I wish U2 would go back to that. Fez when I heard it I thought it was back to that period. Not quite (and Fez is a piece of genius) but it made me go wow. I love it.
  7. Soon (Kingdom) has more of that great experimental style too. I think if one dug in all the Fez material they recorded, there'd be a lot of great experimental songs like that. They really should release it in some way.
  8. Ah I love Soon! Winter, Stingray and Cedars as well as half of No Line (a strange album but still excellent) is going experimental and not quite getting there.

    if you google 8.30pm Montreal time, the 1st 10 or so results are based on U2

    and i was just reading through the fan reviews on U2.com from the December 1st show in melbourne last year (yup, thats how bored i am right now), about 1 in every 3 reviews is from someone who travelled over from Adelaide. Hopefully they take the hint and come visit us next tour.

  12. I am the enemy to some of you - I am a high school (math) teacher. Sometimes when I give a Unit 2 Test (or a "U2" test - get it?) in a particular course, I add the following at the end:

    “U2” BONUS QUESTIONS: Circle the appropriate answers:

    Scoring:
    1 correct no bonus
    2 correct ½-mark bonus
    3 correct 1-mark bonus

    1. What is the name of U2’s lead guitarist?
    a) Slash
    b) The Wedge
    c) The Edge

    2. During which decade did U2 form?
    a) 1970’s
    b) 1980’s
    c) 1990’s

    3. Which of these songs is NOT on the classic album Achtung Baby?
    a) “Beautiful Day”
    b) “One”
    c) “Mysterious Ways”

    These questions are common knowledge to (hopefully) all of us. However, there is a 1 in 27 chance that if you guess randomly at these questions you`ll get all three correct. I recently gave this test to 60 of my students. Guess how many got perfect?
