Over 1,000 kids packed into the seats, completely sold out...going off the walls, laughing their asses off, cheering for Ferris...it was remarkably fun!
And to contrast, during the Art Institute scene where Dream Academy's cover of "Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want" plays, and Cameron stares off into space at the painting depicting the picnic...and the camera shows a closer shot of the painting, and closer shot of his face, and goes back and forth, continually zooming...you can just see on Cameron's face that he doesn't really know where he's at in his life, and as they show each individual dot in the painting, it almost becomes perfectly clear that that's how Cameron feels- like one dot among millions in a painting.
And I swear, during the entirety of the scene, you could have heard a pin drop in the theater as over 1,000 brand new college kids instantly dropped the smiles off their faces, as their hearts beat a little bit faster, and silent fear set in as they wondered if they, too, should be worrying about the same thing.

Wow. I haven't had a moment that deep since the first time i realized, I was a cross between Bryan, and Bender in The Breakfast Club.
I'm an asshole, but I'm a smart asshole.
