1. Somehow I miss the "standard" opener, Breathe is good, I would be gutted if they would have another intro, but the fact they try other things is nice
  2. Wow, what an experience. Two amazing nights, absolutely amazing for me.

I was planning to Twitter the setlist on night one via my friend's mobile, but it failed on us as soon as we got into the stadium. So my apologies for that.

Night one, we got there around 9am, and we were about the 250th people for the GA line. They let us in around 5:30, and we ended up inside the ellipse all the way against the back rail between Edge's side and center stage, which was almost exactly where we were aiming for. Seeing Larry walk out alone on stage...awesome. No Line was the highlight of the first four new songs for me. I Still Haven't Found was great - the crowd really sang along well. During beautiful Day, the bridge that Bono was on stopped right over our heads, and we could see him walking right above us through the stairs.

I couldn't believe they played New Year's Day. Electrifying. When Adam played the opening bass notes, i couldn't believe it. What a powerhouse to hear live. I didn't stop jumping for the entire song.

To see the screen expand and the colors and lights on it during The Unforgettable Fire was stunning. TUF - COBL - Vertigo - Crazy Tonight was easily my favorite part of the show. Larry stopped right in front of us at one point during CT while he was on the catwalk.
Moment of Surrender was perfect as a closer. I'm not into the album version much, but live it's beautiful . Great end to a great concert.

Night two, though, was really something else. Our spot was much better - we got the same position, right between Edge and Bono's sides, but on the very outer rail of the catwalk outside of the pit. Magnificent as an opener...wasn't expecting it at all, and I liked it much better than Breathe. The crowd really got into it right away. Your Blue Room was pretty cool to hear live, but the transition to it from Elevation brought the energy down a bit. But then we got UTEOTW. That was fucking amazing, my favorite performance on both nights. Bono brought up a girl on stage who lifted him up and carried him across the stage while he was singing! It's so great to see Edge go mad on his solo during the end...awesome.

CT was even better the second time. At one point, all four band members were at the center of the catwalk all together, to the right of us. Larry stopped right in front of us again, we couldn't believe it. Bono was on his knees to our right in front of us for Sunday Bloody Sunday. I couldn't believe how close we were - it made our experience so much better.

Overall, night one was great, but the experience of night two just blew me away. Might've been my better spot, or the setlist, I don't know. Either way, the experience of being there to see them is indescribeable. They were only my second and third u2 concerts, but the first one i saw on the Vertigo Tour was up in the nosebleeds, so this was my first GA experience. Right along the rail on the outer catwalk is where I'll be again if they come around next year. Just awesome; I'll never forget it.

So awesome Nick! What side were you on in the inner pit? My friend and I were the only ones jumping around and singing most of the time too. The guy next to me was filming the screen the entire time on his camera.

Haha, thanks Mark. I guess we were some of the few. I can't for the life of me understand why people go to concerts, queue up for over eight hours, just to stand there and take photos or videos.
  7. How's this boot for night 2? Decent enough? Or is it worth waiting around for another better source since this was a bit of a shake-up of the setlist?
  8. One final thing - the front of GA for day 1 was a really bad experience. Security did a decent job until about 2pm, when a few people got up to move their stuff to put back in their car, and the entire line thought something was happening and everyone shoved forward. There were no instructions to sit down again or move back or when they were letting us in, so all of us literally stood shoved together against each other for three hours until 5pm when they started opening the gates. When they did open the gates, apparently the males and females were supposed to be separated into different lines for scanning, but no one told us. When we got the the front, people were jumping over barriers and shoving in front of everyone to get into the right line. No one even checked my bag. It was an absolute mess.

Night two was better. I gues the staff was more prepared now that they knew what to expect. We talked to some people near us on day 2 who had been near us the day before, and they mentioned that night one had been one of the worst GA experiences they've ever had.

The concerts made up for it of course, but I hope the next time they come around, the stadium will know what to expect.
  9. GA queuing was a shambles at the shows I went to. I'll not be showing up overly early in the future

Sadly from experience with Gillette - this is typical of nearly every event at the stadium. The traffic pattern is horrible because Route 1 was not expanded when the stadium was expanded.

From experience, it's best to either arrange to park and do the long walk north or south, or just bring some food, drink, and chairs and hang out at your car until the crowd filters out (takes about two hours).

Yeah, night 2 one of our friends we were with offered to leave during Ultraviolet to go park at Dunkin Donuts and wait for us. We were still in traffic for two hours, even with five lanes open.
