1. my guess is we won't see SOA until march-april 2010, maybe july-august, maybe

  2. Based off of how they delayed the last album, we might get it in 2020.
  3. I believe they'll release it in february or march next year...Just a guess

And I can't wait for it

  4. Was there any evidence or proof that U2 actaully did book studio time with Lanois? Or was that someone farting in the wind?

  5. lol

it was confirmed by a tech from the studio... right?
  6. Here's a thought...

They had plenty of albums to put together a "Best of 1980-1990" and a "Best of 1990-2000".
    But only 2 albums between 2000 / 2010.

So; either they DO do an early 2010 release of SOA, so that one year later (or even christmas 2010) they can release a "decent" Best of 2000-2010.

Or they're just gonna record two or three new songs (Kingdom, Every Braking Wave) to add to the HTDAAB / NLOTH singles for a "Best of 2000-2010" release?

Which scenario would be most logical?

  7. Someone posted that they'd talked to Stuart (Adam's tech) and he'd confirmed they'd booked studio time in Vancouver post the tour. I'm not surprised they're having a break first though. Bono just can't thrash his voice the way he used to without consequences.
  8. U2 debating over Songs of Ascent

Rolling Stone magazine's Brian Hiatt posted on Twitter last night after a phone interview with Edge. On the bright side, Hiatt posted that Edge says "Kingdom Of Your Love" -- the U2 360 tour intro song -- is a "potential Songs of Ascent track." On the not-so-bright side, Hiatt also posted that "Songs of Ascent remains an idea more than an actual album at this point, a subject of debate within the band. No release plans yet."

You can find this and all of our other Songs of Ascent updates in the U2's new album page here on @U2.

Jesus... They just can't do anything straightforward anymore can they?
It's like everything has to be this superpolished clusterfuck that's going to take them years to complete.

Sounds to me like they're too worried about what their music will sound like. Maybe, just maybe, they shouldn't care and just toss out whatever into the public. Big deal if you piss off the fans. Achtung Baby did that, and look how great it is. The key to it is being misunderstood, sort of. If people can't figure you out, you have an awesome power in your hands.

I agree they're overthinking things and in more than just their music. I really think they need to take a step back, maybe throw back a whiskey or five and relax. They're a better band when they pull the sticks out of their collective behinds and just loosen up. Expectations are hard on the creative process and it seems to me like they're finding the expectations of fans and the music business a burden and a barrier to being as brilliant as we know they can be.
