The truth is no one here has been in the studio with them, and no one really knows how finished it is, so there's not much point in criticizing in that regard. Yes it's odd they haven't finished it by now, but perhaps they just had a small hiatus and/or writers block and thought it best not to tell the public. I don't think the B-man was lying when he was saying "everyone already has a stack of U2 albums, we have to have a very good reason for making another". To me that does spell insecurity. But I'd rather have a band conscious of their position than one who thinks they can just release crap every couple years just to appease the fanboys who will love anything and everything they put out. Judging by all the comments surrounding it, it just sounds like they're really thinking hard on this one and want to get it right.

I think people often forget that the band doesn't really owe you anything. They never promised you a date, they don't even have to. We choose to listen to them and await the next release. Getting impatient? There's tons of other new music to check out in the meantime.

Ditto, it's in their own initiative and choice
  2. What ? They said "we'll have something new in *put month here* " plenty of times !
And about owing anything, you know it's a give and take thing right ? Without the fans, they wouldn't have a job now. Let alone the fame and glory. If I personally count the money I paid for their music, gadgets, shows etc., that's already more than and average monthly income.
Otherwise, yes, I'm very thankful for the music they've given me already.

I don't know if there is a delay, but they spoke about several 'new albums' in the past 3-4 years. And they gave us several release dates too, but we're still waiting. Just wanna say that by doin so, it doesn't shut us up but just adds to the suspense. U2 fans can be critical and I just get a bit angry about the four lads giving us false hope. I don't care if I have to wait for another year, I just hope the album will be amazing. But please, spread information when things are certain.
  4. I look at the FUTURE albums always like your on drugs, like you step up the drug ladder to more potent and harsher forms of drugs with it's different effects and journeys without the pitfalls of overdose and bad sideeffects and it's all joyous etc and it's all just with one special band U2...

Although I understand your point, I think it's a weird comparison
  8. The law of diminishing returns applies equally to both the consumption of narcotics and U2's efforts in the studio. Unfortunately U2's ongoing pursuit of perfection seems to be as fruitless as chasing the dragon.
  9. The bottom line is that the fans don't demand or expect 'perfection' at all...... Perfection is irrelevant and even undesirable, because it can lead to music that is to polished, to overproduced and thus not exciting anymore...

I don't expect perfection; it's honesty, vulnerability, rough emotion, spontaneity and guts I'm looking for!

Your not really diminishing anything are you? It's really like what position are you going to fall asleep in or what you desire to eat without out complications and it's all from your very own lunchbox
  11. run that by me again??
