1. Yep... It was something that I thought when that rumors about a club/disco album appeared years ago.
  2. Wow so it's not even a rumour that Paul Epworth is working with U2. It's actually official
  3. I actually like Paul Epworth's work so I'm happy about this. Obviously not happy about the album delay... What I'm hoping happens though is that the Billboard rumor isn't entire accurate maybe it was just delayed for the fall and tour in spring.
  4. I doubt they'll scrap the Dangermouse material though!
  5. But didn't they have shows booked already for the summer!? I'm so confused if those were from reliable sources or just rumors because even Edge said they'd have a busy summer... (implied touring)

I like Adele, Foster the People and Florence (maybe others he's done too i can't remember)

i'm hoping that these extra producers being scheduled in has more to do with them 'tapping into a rich vein of songwriting' rather than it being because they doubt their dangermouse stuff

I believe Edge said "busy later this year" which still falls in line with that Billboard article
  8. I'm hoping all Epworth is doing is just tweaking and polishing the songs up. He can make songs more radio ready than Dangermouse can so hopefully the song is U2 + Dangermouse cleaned up by Epworth. I really hope they don't take another year with Epworth though D:
  9. They've become music's biggest cock teases. And, like any cock tease - we've all been here, I'm sure - the end result, when you finally get it, is never worth the wait. Relevance - what a pointless word and concept for a band whose first album is thirty four years old; get the album out, for good or ill, let the fan base discover it and take it in and just hope that some new fans will be made, but don't stress about it. I understand U2's need and desire for perfection and the Pop fiasco - although I regard Pop to be a misunderstood masterpiece - has them nervous about releasing material which they consider to be unfinished, but SIX YEARS between albums, especially when you've talked about an abundance of material for most of that time? Bollocks. Simply put, U2 - shit or get off the pot.
  10. The average U2 fan's attitude summed up nicely:

Good point. Most fans said the Paul Epworth mix for Ordinary Love was better than the original. Maybe it made them think.

  12. But you have to call it at some point. It's been 5 years, and they've been around forever. Surely they're over the age old artists delusion of "just a little more time, it's not done yet". You can only make so many iterations before you have to say enough is enough. You don't just take your album back into the studio for another god damn year, just because you got scared. It's ridiculous. The "endless creative process". Bullshit. Everything needs deadlines; I don't care if you're Bono and you swagger around like God day in, day out, you better fucking set some and meet them.

I don't mean to sound completely illogical either. Those statements above have cold, hard truth behind them. It's always better to just release and move on, rather than constantly applying patches to something you're never going to be satisfied with anyway. That's the thing people don't understand about Bono. He's king of megalomania but he's still partial to sitting in the corner, sucking his thumb and worrying that his art isn't good enough. He's always been the same and no amount of money, fame or time is going to change that. Ideally he needs someone to stand up to him and release it for him, but that won't happen either.

I could be wrong of course, and there could be another reason for the delay, but I doubt it. The other band members, the business behind them, the label. None of them would have sanctioned this. No, it's our lord and master himself. The dick.

You may be able to infer that I'm a little annoyed, but also, to a degree, sympathetic.
