1. I dunno about that. Have u ever experienced something like that? I have. And no matter how much you love the band it gets boring. Especially during the parts of the show you're not really big on.

I suppose that's fair. But I saw U2 on 360 in the summer of 2011 three times and they played the same set each time (apart from Out of Control and 40 at the end in Moncton). I wasn't angry, I was little "I wish they played Bad!" but never "Damn I wish they played something different, waste of money".

Exactly. If it's in that order, I'll judge the two cities before me. I'll initially go for night 1 and the final show. Then make the judgement call for the middle shows based on what they do setlist wise. To make it interesting they need to at least have 100 songs ready to rotate.
That ain't gonna happen - let's assume it in the first place. But I can see them having 45-50 songs ready for very different sets each night, with some distinctive parts of the show (aka political set for example) being repeated from night to night and other parts being radically different.

And let's not forget the electric/intimate pair of shows thing!!
  4. it's fuck.. freaky.....i am nervous for tomorrow
  5. There's no way they rotate that many songs. No. way. I think it'll be business as usual, with a few more changes. Say the regular set is 25 songs, I imagine 8 or 9 will change between nights. They're not going to rotate new songs, they'll play as many as they can. They're not going to change out horses like Streets and BD. I can see them rotating songs that they're trying to play again. Rotate Boy and October songs, and other songs from their back catalogue.

But I would love to be wrong

They won't be. U2 normally base the number of shows they play in a particular city on the number of tickets they could sell in that arena for one show versus the projected demand for tickets within the population of that area. As a result U2 will play a relatively similar setlist each night as they need to design the show for the vast majority of shall we say "casual" fans, 80000 or so different people every night, who will only attend one show expecting to see the general fan favourites eg. Streets, WOWY, One etc.
  7. You guys are probably right. BUT some risk at this point in their career with the sets would be welcome and I know we all agree on that.

See comments like this don't make sense to me! It's not like U2 are MAKING you go buy tickets for four shows. If you go and do that and the sets are the same it really isn't the band's fault...

What doesn't make sense? I'm not blaming the band. No one is making me buy tickets. All I'm saying is, if you are playing 8!!!! shows in the same city/venue, then put some effort into the set. If I could play over 100 U2 songs on drums at any given time , then they should be able to also.

    This is a good point.

I do wonder if it all comes back to U2 starting out as non-musicians and always being bad at covering other people's songs Maybe they can't even play their own!

I get that feeling too. But, at the end of the day it's live music. Mistakes are ok. Pearl Jam make mistakes musically and lyrically all the time. No one complains about it! Especially now that the production is smaller than 360, it's the perfect opportunity to experiment.

And I think they will. They've sort of hinted at it.
