1. Milan 92 - Running To Stand Still.
  2. bump
  3. All I'm gonna say is that I'm pretty dissapointed in the Los Angeles crowd :-/

  4. Then allow me to go further - they were rubbish. I've heard mice make more noice. I've been to livelier funerals. Tonight I saw more cameras than there are in the entire city (Dublin). People were holding a camera in each hand and using their tongues to take photos with the extra camera in theirs mouths.

If there was a 'debate' on the nose of American audiences, who probably make more noise in the cinema, then it was settled with what will be the third dvd and yet another audience that was flatter than a pancake.
  5. I'm from Australia and have travelled to the us and caught u2 in Phoenix, Vegas and LA and if I'm being completly honest I would rate the crowds as an absolute disgrace. In Phoenix I was stuck next to a women who prefered to watch the show through the screen on her camera like most others, and not one person around me jumped during streets or sang through the night. Vegas was a pretty good crowd, and the best of the 3 by far. The worst crowd however was the rose bowl. I don't know if this is common at u2 shows because I normally have GA tickets, but up in the stands the crowd was leaving before one, that's right before the first encore and streets, the only song that I again mistakenly thought would have an awesome crowd reaction with 96000 people! The band and the show are amazing and I'm glad that I came over to see them, but for u2 to keep coming to America for 2 legs each tour when other places with a crowd that is much more into the show regularly miss out or get one leg every decade is not something I can understand other than for $$$. I don't post often and sorry for rambling on but America needs to realise how much better the show is when everyone is up singing, dancing and jumping around!

Hey, Shannon! I'm also from Australia and did the same thing you did, only for the beginning of the tour (Chicago 1&2, Toronto 1&2, Boston 1, NJ1). I also thought some of the audiences were very lame, especially the first Toronto show, which was just excruciating. People were leaving the stadium at 10pm, halfway through the show. It wasn't the only time I noticed the stadium emptying early, but it was the worst case of it. Up front at the rail was full-on mad awesomeness, but up in the stands, not so much.

My personal theory (the current one anyway) is that U2 have become a 'bucket list' band for a lot of people and the stadium shows are just letting more bucket list people in. The one time I had seats (NJ1) there were people all around me who'd never seen them before but wanted to 'see them at least once'. Maybe that's inevitable, maybe they're just not connecting with the audience with the new music, I don't know.

That's an interesting theory and it certainly makes some sense; however, I suspect that is also true in Europe and we don't generally seem to see the same apathy.

  8. Is it worth getting Milan 92 then? I see you guys going on about it but never bothered to download it.

However - I did see the reviews about great performances so I'm-a-getting-it-right-now.
