30 years of U2 on RTÉ this weekend

To mark the 30th anniversary of the first broadcast of U2's first single on RTÉ 2fm, the station, RTÉ's digital stations and RTÉ Libraries and Archives are paying tribute to the band this weekend.

RTÉ 2fm will broadcast U2's Top 30 Moments, starting from 5pm on Friday, 25 September and continuing throughout the weekend.

Among the highlights will be the band's first interview on RTÉ Radio with Dave Fanning and their performance of 'Beautiful Day' on the roof of the Clarence Hotel in Dublin.

RTÉ Libraries and Archives is hosting a collection of U2 photos and classic clips from RTÉ Television and RTÉ Radio at: www.rte.ie/u2.

U2 fans can also hear exclusive clips throughout the weekend on the digital station RTÉ Gold, while digital dance station RTÉ Pulse will present a special show, 'U Too', which will exclusively feature U2 remixes on Friday, 25 September at 8pm, Saturday, 26 September at 9pm and Sunday, 27 September at 5pm.
