1. woops.... Not* ..... sorry haha

I sat listening to the best of 80-90 today and I was just buzzing off New Years Day and When Love Comes to Town, and thought, yeah this probably was their best era. In spite of that I dont really agree with people saying that they are past it. Its awfully difficult to produce great album after great album, and just because every U2 album hasnt been a masterpiece, they've been slated. I mean you arent going to get a JT or a UF everytime. But that doesnt make the band rubbish. It just annoys me when people say that.

    Thoughts??
  2. Nah, I buzz off the 90-00 stuff more. Much more. I get a buzz off most of NLOTH like I haven't had since 1997 too mind.
  3. I watch youtube videos of the boys from 1992 and look at my family tree in disgust wishing i'd entered the world a little earlier

I know what you mean! Though I think I'm happy being 22. haha

    +1

At least I have the small consolation of having been fan since I was born... But if only I had been born 3 or 4 years earlier... I would have attended Zoo and Pop
  6. Iv been listening since the mid 80s and they obviously peaked in the 90s. The good thing is, that peak hasn't started to dip yet.
  7. I should have been born in 1968...instead of 1988.
  8. Sure the heights of JT and AB may never be reached again, but what band has ever been this good this late in their career? NLOTH to me is one of their best.
  9. I agree this statement is false. I see U2 as having chapters in their career, and people will always have an opinion as to which is the best of those. For me, it'll always be the 90s. I love everything they did and can barely fault it. I second the 'wishing I'd been born earlier' comment! It'll be my eternal sadness that I didn't get to see ZooTV live.

But then most people my age wouldn't STILL have the chance to see their fave band live, but I did! Because they're still going, and they're not a greatest hits machine, they produce new and interesting material. I think NLOTH is a complex and worthwhile album, and I like that they didn't go the obvious route and make big hits for the sake of it. I know they seem to regret that now but they can't seem to understand this is the better way. I'd much rather have something you can keep listening to and uncovering new things from. I love U2 now and it does annoy me when people slate them - they're still an excellent band.

Amen. Id give anything to attend a Zoo TV or Popmart show.
  11. The eighties? I actually don't like their eighties era, except for Boy.

The nineties and the current era is where it's at.
