Not sure if anyone here as checked out We Were Promised Jetpacks album 'These Four Walls' but I personally think it is the album of the year. We Were Promised Jetpacks is a young Scottish band that is clearly influenced by the likes of U2, Radiohead and the Twilight Sad. However, in my opinion, they don't sound derivative. Great album that I suggest checking out immediately. I can't go more than a few days without listening to it. Powerful, passionate and melodic postpunk/alt rock.
I also saw them live in a small club here in DC a couple of months ago. Great show. I saw them a few days after I saw U2 along with 80,000 other people. It was really nice to see such a great band in an initimate club setting along with maybe 150 people.
I listened to "Quiet Little Voices", and I have to admit- it sounds like something that could really grow on me. I'm going to check out the rest of their stuff and download it on the benefit of the doubt. If it doesn't sink in the right way in a few weeks, I'll certainly keep them in mind and try again at a much later time.
Either way, thanks for the reccomendation. It's not terrible, which means I'm intrigued.
Just to let you all know, this band actually formed in my school. Never ever got to meet them though :/ 'Quiet Little Voices' is a good song, it's catchy as well.
