1. Hello.

In the Sheffield show we have 3 or 4 sources with 5 star in FLAC or ALAC format. Some from Hallam Radio Broacdast and other from Q Radio.

I have one version already, with a bit strange sound in higher sound (opposite of bass and I don't know to say the word in english) that sometimes make it gain a little distortion.

So I ask: does anybody knos if the sound is allways the same or is there any quality diferences?

I could download all of them, but my connection is too slow...

    Happy Christmas to us all.
  2. The word is 'treble'.

The Q Radio broadcast is the heavily-circulating version. The Radio Forth FM version is a better sounding, pre-FM version, i.e. recorded before being broadcast. I would thoroughly recommend downloading that version. However, the bass is still a bit quiet.

The Radio Forth FM broadcast on this site is NOT a pre-fm version.

    Lineage: FM>DAT>Microtrack II S/PDIF > CDWave Editor> FLAC(8)

As far as i know there is no pre-fm version.

The difference in audioquality has to do with the processing the radio companies used. Some use more dynamic compression (=bad) than others. Also every station has different filters, equalizers, etc.

If there is a pre-fm version circulating than just ignore everything above.
  4. ^ My apologies. I just double-checked the site that I downloaded it from (not this one) and saw this:

This recording is not an recording of the webcast, it`s from Forth One FM Radio.

So I guess it was recorded from the radio, not the internet - i just got mixed up!

Still the one to go for though, IMO.
