1. I am looking for video from a Long Island show in October 1987 in which my daughter was on Bono's shoulder singing 'Party Girl' with him. She went to 4 shows with us in 1986 & 1987 and she was on stage with him 3 times. The first time was at the Meadowlands in NJ in 1986 where she rode his shoulders during 'With or Without You', the second time was in Long Island, and the third show she was at Madison Square Garden in1987 where Bono had her on stage putting his cowboy hat on her. If anyone knows where I can get any of these videos, please let me know. Thanks.
  2. I guess you memory might play some tricks...
I'd be surprised to see WOWY performed in 1986. As for the others, some dates would help. There might be some video on the Rattle & Hum "outtakes".
  3. What Yeah said.

Your memory might be serving you incorrect dates and/or info. With Or Without You wasnn't performed live (at least, in known shows, with significative audience) until the start of the Joshua Tree tour. That's April 1987. Therefore, or you remember wrongly the song, and it was indeed 1986 (probably the mythic 1986-06-15 East Rutherford concert?)... or it was WOWY, but it was 1987.

The Party Girl stuff could be in one of the following shows: · 1987-09-25 Philadelphia, 1987-09-28 New York (the epic show), 1987-10-29 Rosemont or 1987-10-30 Rosemont. That are the 4 times that Party Girl was performed in (near) October 1987... ShakeShake told Long Island so it might be the 09-28 NY show... Even though that would exclude the MSG ocassion. Weird.

Did you attend two consecutive shows in New York?

Anyway, that's some cool stories about your daughter!! Congrats Is she still a U2 fan nowadays?

PS. I don't remember seeing any girl footage on the R&H Outtakes, though.
  4. Yeah I could have my dates mixed up! I remember going to the meadowlands first and it was definetly WOWY so I guess it was 1987. The show in Long Island was where she sang Party Girl with Bono. He was so surprised that she even knew the words to that song, she heard it on the Red Rocks cd. She was only 8 years old at the time. We did get a piece of it from NBC, they were doing an interview with the band an included that part of the show on The Today Show. I would like to find the whole song and the words he spoke to her after giving her back to me ( he asked her name and then said 'Jocelyn, I think I'm in love').

What I would love to happen now is to see Bono take her daughter on stage and do it again!

When he took her up on stage at Madison Square Garden he had an injured shoulder so he couldn't put her on his shoulders so he brought her in front of the camera and took his cowboy hat off and put it on her. I have no pictures of this because my wife dropped the camera just before she got up on stage.

    Thanks for your help
  5. I guess that with "Meadowsland" you are meaning New Jersey/East Rutherford zone, not the Minessotta city called Meadowsland... That means that the WOWY show could be one of the following:
1987-05-11 / 12 / 13 / 15 / 16, East Rutherford. Or even the Giants Stadium show in 1987-09-14... Do you remember if it was spring or autumn? Or remember if it was an arena or a stadium? That would help. The September 14th show was recorded in video, even though it's hard to find and the quality is pretty poor. Anyway.

The New York MSG shows are much easier to find, since only two dates were played there: september 28th and 29th. There is not full video of either, but there's plenty of proshot (proffessional) footage of the first night, so you might be lucky and spot your daughter there And indeed, you're right about the Bono's injury, he got his shoulder dislocated on September 20th in Washington, and carried a sling until 4 weeks later. So he was still injuried in the NY shows, good memory

And the Long Island stuff is what I am still confused yet. Long Island is, indeed, a big long island with plenty of cities located in there... Dave, could you clarify a bit in which city or specific zone was the concert? That would help a lot, since Party Girl is a recognisable song, and played from now to then, so that could be the easiest show to find
  6. Thanks for your help. I know the show in Long Island was at Nassau Colliseum. I do know that we went to that show there before the show at Madison Square garden. That is how we found out about the video of our daughter on The Today Show. We were standing in the hallway of the garden when someone came up to us and said I know you, you're Jocelyn. I was kinda creeped out that this stranger knew my daughters name and he told us he remembered her at Nassua Colliseum. He's the one that told us about seeing her on the Today Show on NBC.
I remember the show at East Rutherford, NJ was in the spring and the show at Nassua Colliseum was in the fall, not sure about NYC but it was defietly after Nassua Colliseum.
    Thanks,
    Dave

    Ok.

The Long Island show could be either the September 10th or 11th, Uniondale. That's for sure. You won't find any video of this shows but we have audio recording of both gigs... If I find some spare time this weekend I can download both and search their Party Girl's in search of Jocelyn's mentions

As I thought, the ER show will be the hardest to find out, they played 5 nights in a row and given the lack of footage and info from that shows, the only possible solution would be downloading them all and comparing/searching for Jocelyn's references.

The NY is definitely one of the two aforementioned, either the 28th or the 29th of september in the MSG. Both are great shows and I encourage you to download them, you will find your daughter's reference in Bono's words, and moreover you will get two excellent Joshua bootlegs.

Until we have heard all the shows we can't confirm any of them; anyway, it's not hard. You'll find out in the end, I'm sure

  8. I've listened to yesterday night, yes, a little girl is singing the lyrings during party girl...
