That song was unreal Nick, keep em' coming.

Thanks Alex! I know what you mean, just about every kid in my school (accept for one) who "writes/performs" music is absolutely horrible. I can easily see why you would think that a 15 year old kid can't write music lol. I'm glad that I've sparked your interest in the thread.

Haha, I didn't mean to come off as prejudiced or anything like that, but it is true, people tend to call themselves musicians and or song writers when they're actually not really...But it all comes down to the fact that song writing is art, and some art to me is shit, while some is great.

you're song just really gets to me somehow, I've been writing for a few years, and I'm 19, and it baffles me that (again, not trying to sound prejudiced) someone younger than I can write something like that, you have the talent in you man, you will be a jedi, I promise.

    Alex

P.S Anxious to hear the finished product.

P.P.S I think it's time I started sharing some of my stuff! just have to get it recorded!
  3. Hell YEAH!!! We want to hear you too

And agree with the other PS, I said it too: I want to hear the whole song NOW, Nick! What the hell are you doing?!?!?! Go!! Record it!!!
  4. Mozart started writing at 4, so we've all got some catching up to do

    Exactly how I feel.

I'm really glad that it got to you, that's the only reason why I keep writing. Thanks again for the comments!

I'm anxious to hear it as well lol. I'm definitely going to record it, but I need to work out a few logistical things on the keyboard first. All of the not-so-magical stuff that you don't see on camera.

    Please please do! Can't wait!

I'm murdering puppies with my free time.
  6. multiple u2 references in this one. if you know where im from, and can put a few things together- though it may take a bit of creativity as far as the specifics go- you should be able to figure out the first reference to the EXACT point. the second reference is obvious.

    "Optimistic"

i wrote you one hundred songs
before i used the same words over again
i tricked you into a melody
before it told you where i had been

i walked away without a drop on my chin
while you painted your porch with tears
i handed you a gift wrapped box
filled with everything you ever feared

    you always told me
    i smiled too wide
    that i sang too loud
    must be cracked inside
i always told you i could write you a love song
and im as wasted as my eyes are blue
    and maybe i was drunk
    when i made that promise
but baby i was drinking you

i heard the band playing our favorite song
before it got played off the stage
by a song much bigger that i knew much better
before i told you that i'd turned a page

and i should have warned you that i was a bomb
before i detonated in your arms
i would have kept lying just to keep you smiling
if i thought it wouldn't do any harm

    you always told me
    i smiled too wide
    that i sang too loud
    must be cracked inside
i always told you i could write you a love song
and im as wasted as my eyes are blue
    and maybe i was drunk
    when i made that promise
but baby i was drinking you

i should have asked if god could hear us coming
before i gave him what we lived for
should have asked if he could have heard us knocking
    scratching at his door

    you always told me
    i smiled too wide
    that i sang too loud
    must be cracked inside
i always told you i could write you a love song
and im as wasted as my eyes are blue
    and maybe i was drunk
    when i made that promise
but baby i was drinking you

and i should have laughed for the very last time
before the moment we last kissed
but i couldn't leave you with something so dear
i didn't want to be this missed.
  7. Noise Sleeper

my door looks lighter than yesterday
does this mean you've been inside?
if i can't see you, let me feel you
take me along on the waves you ride

if im too afraid to sleep
i cant just let you in my dreams
    your camoflauge erases certainty
nothing is quite what it seems

    sleep through the noise
    don't let it wake you
    allow it to take you
    make yourself sound
    -
    noise sleeper
don't infiltrate the peace around you
desecrate the life that sounds like
everything you've ever known to be true....
    let the static rearrange you

if i wake up a different person
if i even wake at all
how can i trust the noise to catch me?
how can i trust myself to fall?

    stand over me, my eyes are closed;
    show me everything you chose
let my eyelids be your screen
i cant continue until i surely know
what still begs to be seen

    sleep through the noise
    don't let it wake you

  8. Orphan Heart

(this may or may not be elaborated on- I feel like it deserves to stay the way it is now; almost like my own "MLK"- short and sweet)

    we sleep under bridges
    you haven't yet burned
    dream of the days
for which you haven't yet yearned

    is a city still majestic,
if the buildings stand to fall?
is this land not every free man's place to roam?
is this the way you wanted,
when you thought of walking tall?
    oxygen without a heart
    every heart without a home

    is a city still majestic,
if the buildings stand to fall?
is this land not every free man's place to roam?
is this the heaven you looked down on,
when you thought of walking tall?
    oxygen without a heart
    every heart without a home

"How can I trust myself to fall?" "Let the static rearrange you" "Don't infiltrate the peace around you" These are my favorite lines from the piece. Good work

I especially like the "chorus" part... "is a city still majestic if the buildings stand to fall?" It sounds like someone who is hanging on to what was once great, and is in denial of it aging. Or one self's aging...
  10. Thanks Nick...I wrote all of those last night under some sort of strange wave of inspiration for the three...they're all still being worked on (with the exception of Optimistic, thats done)....at least I think they all are. Who knows?

I think that I caught that same wave this morning lol. I have two more songs to post. They both sound good, I didn't pick up on anything that needed rearranging. Then again, I haven't heard the music behind them, so I don't know the melodies... anyway, on my end they look great.
