Ditto re. the piano, generally how I get my ideas to flux and pan out such a good songwriting aide.
  2. Piano is nice, I love just playing it and finding melodies. If I'm writing something on guitar, I usually experiment a little bit, then remember how keys work to get it correct. Something like that.
  3. So I've basically decided i'm gonna work with some friends with experience with songwriting, and we're gonna make some music for these songs. I guess that kinda makes us a band? Haha. But yeah, we're gonna be getting together soon and working things out, playing stuff and singing along and seeing how it comes out. We were talking about it last night and I guess they seem to believe I have the best voice out of all of us, despite the fact I've got no confidence in my voice (my user name on a lot of other forums is Malavox as opposed to Bonavox haha) but yeah, when we work things out we'll probably release like an EP or something. 3 Songs and then the Moving Mountains short little song thing (think Jack Johnson's "Belle" or "Situations"). But yeah, i'm excited.
  4. That's incredibly cool!^

Have faith in your own ability my friend would love to hear whatever you guys come up with!
  6. Thanks guys. I'm really excited to see how it all works out, when we get around to recording you guys will be the first to get the link.
  7. Finally got a full(ish) version of Sunset Run down. Guitar, piano, vox and rhythm. Incredibly basic, not great quality of recording, mix is shoddy, but you get the jist and it's as close as I've come to realising it as to how I want it to turn out in the end.

As ever, hope it doesn't burn your collective ears, any feedback would be cool working on other stuff too, but will upload it tomorrow 'cause I need to hit the sack.

I really like it! I think if you could get a chance to record it professionally, it would do really well. You've got a pretty good voice too.

I'm more or less in the middle of a creative breakthrough with regards to my stuff. I'm starting to really begin getting the hang of guitar, and have something of a riff written for the song I've been working on. It's going to be an acoustic song, so i'm not sure how much more i'll need (probably just a bit of a change for the chorus and bridge?) It's REALLY simple, but it works with the lyrics and isn't too hard for a beginner like myself.
  9. Okay, I've finished my summer work and a few new songs. I plan to start recording as soon as possible, so any lyrical adjustments that you would like to share would be very well appreciated.

Welcome To The Top (working title, a bad one at that)

    Let’s get it started, alright?
You’ve put your face in the fight
And now we’re going all night
    Don’t you let me down

We’re going straight to the top
There are no stops being brought
You’re plowing right through the clouds
And now you’re drawing the crowds

And now we are all we want

Is there anybody out there calling out my name,
Telling me I’m not in place, and trying to believe the doubt?

I’ve got you right where I want you
You’re coming straight to my arms
And now everything’s right in place
    And I feel love

Come on and tell me I’m wrong now
Just try to move your lips
The words would never cross your mind
And you won’t let me down

And now we are all we want

Is there anybody out there calling out my name,
Telling me I’m not in place, and trying to believe the doubt?

    Only A God

Draw your holy guns, and holy swords
And fight the ones who aren’t spreading your words
You will believe all of my lies
Just you wait, the whip will justify

Give me your sick, give me your poor
Give me your dying, and write the check ‘till you’re sore
Bow to me, make me proud
Wherever you are, gather me a crowd

    All their lives are mine
It’s not enough, I want it all

Draw those holy guns, and holy blood
I’ll give you a book that will dry it up, oh
What a life it is to be only
    A god

Start your holy wars, and holy fights
In just a few years, I will all seem right
Tell me your secrets, show me your flaws
I will help, but it will feel raw, oh

What a life it is to be only
    A god
What a life it is to be only
    A god

Show me all of your pride, and all of your hope
And all of my wisdom shall help you cope
I’ve been called wrong, maybe rightfully so
But don’t you worry, they will see so soon, oh

What a life it is to be only
    A god
What a life it is to be only
    A god

    Freedom

I’m searching, searching for you again
I’m saving my time for you again
Going up the walls for you again
Do I feel free? Do I feel fine?
Let me tell you that I have never felt so right

I’m sitting in chains for you, and I’m in pain for you
I heard your words that day, and I felt them too
All the lies and compromises, never felt so sold to me

    But now I’m free
    I am free
    But I still want you
    I still want you

I’m coming ‘round and ‘round again
Not going down and down again
I feel that I have time again
How do you feel? What is your mood?
I feel new, I feel improved

    Because now I’m free,
    I am free
    But I still want you
    I still want you

That man inside of me, told me who I would be
I heard his words that day, and I felt free
All the lies and compromises, never fled so easily

    And now I’m free
    I am free
    But I still want you
    I still want you

    Dancing On Mars

Come with me, I’ll take you far
We’ll go to a place just past the stars
Soon we’ll dance and you will approve
I promise that I will make you move

Come with me, we’ll touch the stars
We’ll make them home and call them ours
We’ll have time, and we’ll have space
I’ll make your heart beat win the race

Show me your wisdom, show me your pride
I know that you’re the one who deserves the prize
I’ll show you the universe and give you the stars
Before too long we’ll be dancing on Mars

Let the music flow right through
Let it caress and comfort you
Move your body to this E.T. hit
When day comes, the night will be on your lips

Show me your wisdom, show me your pride
I know that you’re the one who deserves the prize
I’ll show you the universe and give you the stars
Before too long we’ll be dancing on Mars

Show me your wisdom, show me your pride
I know that you’re the one who deserves the prize
You’ve given your confidence and received mine
You’ve taken my demons and given your time

Show me your wisdom, show me your pride
I know that you’re the one who deserves the prize
I’ll show you the universe and give you the stars
Before too long we’ll be dancing on Mars
  10. Just wrote this the other day...its called "Apnea", which is a sudden interruption in breathing- I'd never heard the word before, and when I did and looked it up, I tied it into something I'd been thinking about for awhile to write this song.

There's a bit of a story behind it, too. I've been wanting to play with the concept of dreaming, being awake, etc...So the concept behind "Apnea" is this- One man, who sees the world realistically and honestly, for everything that it truly is, manipulating the minds of people who are trapped in their own dreamlike-visions of the world, sugar coating their lives to make the world seem perfect to themselves. Although apnea is never mentioned in the song, the music reflects it very much as there's a sudden unexpected rest in the hook before it picks back up, but the mood of the song also suggests a sudden interruption in dreaming- those who aren't seeing clearly finally opening their eyes- but only for a brief second.

One of my favorite parts is the last line of the chorus: "I'll always need it / All the time", sings the main character in the song- referring to how even though his eyes are open, he needs to basically "feed" on those who dream because its the only way he can keep himself alive. This would be a post-grunge type rock song.

Enough of me babbling- I've just never written a song that I've gone so in-depth with before!!!

    Apnea

    In a sea of faces
    The disaffected disappear
    Shoulder to shoulder
    Only feeling who is near
    Running 'round in circles
    Before you can walk
    All the children screaming
    Before they can even talk
    -PreChorus-
This life is no pill to take
Can't even dream when you're wide awake
    -Chorus-
Ill keep you on my line
Ill catch you running through this poison mind
Broken mirrors show me everything you find
    Ill always need it
    (big)All the time
    -(back to hook)-
    Show me your breath
    Make me believe you're alive
    Your instant classic
    Is your .45
I wanna sear through your thoughts
    Like empty space
Ill be there when youve found yourself
    In the right place
    -PreChorus+Chorus-
    -Bridge-
And if it means I have to lie
To show you what you could find
Would I be turning a blind eye
    Or turning an eye blind?
-Chorusx2, with the prechorus layered over-
    -End on hook-
  11. Release date?^ Sounds like it could be a very good song.

  12. Undetermined. Since I didn't have room to bring my guitar to college/university with me on the first trip, I haven't actually written the music yet. I have the hook in my head and some solid ideas for the verses, so as soon as I get that I can map it out a little better. It'll still be hard without drums and such though, since it's a hard rock song. I can definitely get a good template though.
