1. Hello everyone,

First, my apologies for my crappy English; I am Dutch and I ain't sure if my grammar is completely right.

My mom turns 45 soon, and I want to write her a short message on her present when I give it to her. I thought, since she is a MASSIVE U2 fan (didn't miss a single concert in the Netherlands or Belgium), maybe she would appreciate it if I wrote her a sentence that comes from a U2-lyric, that says "We had some rough times, but together we are strong" or something in that direction.

Well, now I have a sort of problem: I am very, very, very sorry, but the only U2 songs I know are Beautiful Day, City of Blinding Lights and Vertigo (please don't kick me! )!

So, maybe you could help me out, a little? Please? Pretty please?

    Thank you all,
    Iris
  2. 'the air is heavy, heavy as a truck'
  3. Have a look at the lyric section of our site

    Lots of inspiration!
  4. Take a look at Tomorrow's lyrics...
    http://u2start.com/songs/17/Tomorrow/lyrics/

I've sung it to my mother in quite a few times and it simply fits. It's the main question that we all want/would want to ask to our mothers: Will you be back tomorrow?

PS. Welcome to the forum!! By the way, your English grammar is amazing,
  5. Well, my mum cries everytime she hears this verses, from Ultraviolet:

When I was all messed up
And I had opera in my head
Your love was a light bulb
    Hanging over my bed

    Absolutely fantastic too
  6. One will always work too.

"We're one but we're not the same; we get to carry each other"

    or adapt this verse:-

    "One love
    One blood
    One life
You got to do what you should
    One life
    With each other
    Daughters
    Mothers

    One life"
  7. big girls are best
    momma momma momma

mother fucking sucking rock and roll

    good luck!

    to be serious:

one is a good idea, but a bit bitter... magificent maybe?
  8. I've always thought "Kite" had lyrics that could be taken in either love or death. The truth of the matter is that your mom is living her own life while at the same time probably coping with the fact that she's going to be "losing" you soon as you grow older and eventually live your own life as well....I've ALWAYS broken down during the chorus...

"Who's to say where the wind will take you?
Who's to know what it is will break you?
I dont know which way the wind will blow...
Who's to know when the time has come around?
I don't want to see you cry-
But I know that this is not goodbye"

Reassurance that she may be taken and blown by the wind, and though you don't know what it is might break her spirits anymore, you know that you'll always be in each other's lives and hearts.

I suppose the pre-chorus could be taken as a little gloomy though,

    "I want you to know
That you don't need me anymore
    I want you to know
You don't need anyone, or anything at all
    "

Maybe not the message you want to send to your mom...

Sorry if this wasn't much help! But you could consider a medley?
