1. Hi everyone,

There is a new U2 bootleg out for those who collect vinyl "Live McGonagles", it's been going for a fortune on ebay $500 USD + recently.

Now, I have been collecting U2 bootlegs since 1986 and have some 130+ LPS. I'm not ever going to pay $500+ for an LP of this nature, even though it is numbered out of 150. The next thhing is, I don't believe that any shows from McGonables has ever gone into circulation, apart from the wrongly dated Japanese CD "Bono works at McGonagles" which is really the National Stadium show from 1980.

    Anyone got this LP?

Would love to hear from any old timer U2 BOOT LP collectors anyway, as there is not a lot of reference to U2 boot LP'S on the net.

Sorry for the long winded post.

    Cheers,

    Chris
  2. Wow, I can't believe no-one has seen this?
  3. ALBUM TAKEN FROM THERE PERFORMANCE AT McGONAGLES, DUBLIN, IRELAND ON 1ST - 8TH JUNE 1979.

FOR THOSE WHO ENJOY EARLY U2, THIS IS THE EARLIEST RECORDING OF A U2 CONCERT.

IN JUNE 1979 THE BAND PLAYED FOUR GIGS AT A DUBLIN PUB CALLED McGONAGLES AS PART OF A CONCERT SERIES CALLED "JINGLE BALLS".

TRACKS INC: TREVOR, CARTOON WORLD, JACK IN THE BOX, SPEED OF LIGHT, SHADOWS AND TALL TREES, STORIES FOR BOYS, THE MAGIC CARPET AND BOY/GIRL.

THESE ARE SUPER RARE, LIMITED TO ONLY 150 COPIES PRESSED ON RED VINYL

  4. I had a look at it, but then had a look at the price, $500.00 US for a vinyl bootleg?

I got burnt once & once only by perchasing a U2 live vinyl bootleg for around $40 or so, and the quality of it was just appauling, never again.

Besides, with so many awesome quality bootlegs avaliable, why buy one? I mean i collect ALOT of U2, but would never even consider purchasing a bootleg vinyl for that much.

  5. I'm with Stu here.... I mean, I have bought several rare U2 items for certainly too much money in the past.... but 500 $ ?!? there is a point where your brain has to reboot itself and start working, really..... way too much for a vinyl - in my opinion, that is

no harm intended, Chris, just sharing my thoughts
  6. If this show really isn't in circulation I can imagine it's quite an interesting object -- but yes, way too expensive.

It's relisted by now for half of the price. I'd wait until it will be relisted once again

    ....

Wow, I never heard almost all those songs!

  8. I have this one from January 1980 and it has most of those songs, i think I paid about $40 for it

I know i never spent more than $50 for a Vinyl Bootleg

  9. ....time to brush up on U2 history and the 'early stuff''...here's something to start you off!

    cheers

  10. Thanks for the response everyone.

No, totally not worth it at, it's a ripp off.

Evman, any proof this is from that show apart from the listing? Lots of boots have the wrong dates/venues on them. This LP is just new and not worth anywhere near that money. Besides, if the show was in circulation, chances are, it would be available here right?

In 1986, I purchased a U2 collectors guide which had pictures of bootleg LP'S that were available at that point,7" and 12" singles, promos etc from around the World. Very cool print. So at 15, I made it my goal to collect all of them that were listed (stupid enough to think the list was complete) there were a lot of mega rare boots in there, and after 24 years of collectiong, I still don't have them all (many more than what's in the book mind you). So I have paid up to $250 for a 2lp that came out in 1984, that you are likely to rarely , if ever see, which I was fine with that.

Don't spend $500 on an lp that just came out yesterday, that's crazy!

If anyone has an U2 lp's they want to sell, let me know as I'm still crazy over vinyl.

  12. As far as I'm aware, Trevor was written in 1980 and as Bono says at one of the Garden of Eden shows early 1980, "this is a new song" and I always thought Jack in the box was from 1980 also.
